Really. That was a surprise.

What? i'm confused... is this some new plot change for the movie? if so.... FACEPALM.
^ The new touring production opens on board a ship. A Projection of waves crashing is shown before the prologue starts. The curtain goes up to show the prisoners being whipped as they row the ship. The projection on the back wall shows the deck of the ship rocking with the waves.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!
If context wasn't good enough for the OP, it's not good enough for ANNNNYYYYONE!
This must be the new Princess Cruises adaptation.

As originally conceived?
Note the Work Song lyrics:
"The sun is strong! It's hot as hell below!"
p.s. Thankfully, they took away the prisoners' pickaxes and substituted long oars.
Yes and more aligned with the opening of Victor Hugo novel, as the prisoners toiled on galleys of Toulon.

You guys seriously need to catch up. This production has been touring for almost two years.
"The sun is strong! It's hot as hell below!"
And that lyric still works.
Spoiler alert! COME ON! [Gob Bluth]
Sometimes one can't catch up until the tour comes to thier town and they can go and see it.
That's not an excuse. You can clearly see the boat in all the B-rolls of the UK tour (which is being used to promote the US tour).
I suppose you're right. Should we ban the OP from the boards or find out where they live and "tp" their yard with old copies of Playbills?
There is no context. And I can tp my own yard with playbills, thankyouverymuch. I like the comment; "Bringing new meaning to the phrase 'a three hour tour'." Silly works for me.
