I haven't seen anything about the new Guy and Girl in Once since they started about a month ago. Has anyone seen them? I'd really like to know what you thought of them. Thank you.

Thought they were both very good. Danville (Guy) brought an interesting fragility to the role that I didn't get from Steve Kazee. Overall, I thought they were very solid together.

I saw them their first night. They both were very good, one of the most solid performances from a cast I've seen yet. Both were funny and sang/played great. Darvill did sound like his range wasn't as strong as Kazee's during "Broken-Hearted Hoover Sucker Guy" but he made up for it and... it was hysterical to say the least. Impressive for debuts from both.

Here's some thoughts from earlier on in the run.

Arthur Darvill

^ He was just an interim replacement for Darvill.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Thought the new guy was far and away the better Guy to Steve Kazee. He had a kind of hipstery nerdiness that really suited the character, and he as an actor deals a lot better with vulnerability than Steve did. (all that from someone who quite liked Steve, btw) He didn't have as strong a voice, but he had his own quite unique vibe going on.

The new girl was not quite as good, however. I thought Cristin Milioti was brilliant, and I didn't realize how paper thin that role was without an actress like her playing it. Not that the new girl was bad, she just didn't quite measure up. Nice voice, though.

Thanks for the link to the earlier thread, ClydeBarrow, and thanks to everyone who responded. We're going Friday night. I loved the movie and this production when I saw it early in the Broadway run. Sounds like a much different take on Guy. Much appreciated, everyone.
