Has anyone gone? They are selling the side Orchestra seats for $42.00. Curious ..

For $42 it's worth it. I have read a couple of good reviews and some friends who saw it here enjoyed it. If I hadn't seen it in NY last year I would go.

The $42.00 side orchestra seats ( only at the box office) are fine. You are like in row L or M all the way to the side. It is fine for this show and I really wouldn't spend any more than that. The show is what it is. But the actors and musicians are wonderful.

I really disliked the Broadway show, and can imagine it is dwarfed at the Pantages. Rather glad to hear this reviewer confirm my earlier "Emperor has no clothes" impression

Yes, everyone who claims to have enjoyed Once is lying out of fear of judgment by others who are also lying or deluded. You and this reviewer are the only ones who realize how stupid the rest of us are.

Unless you have the best seats in the house, I can't imagine seeing ONCE at the Pantages. The show's a little too intimate to be playing at a venue the size of Rhode Island.

The show is boring. Has nothing to do with the location or actors.

I do hate the Pantages. It should be a concert venue. Having said that; It is not going to make you like the show less or more for seeing it there. They have the upstairs blocked off and as with most touring shows.. everything is over amplified. If you want to see Once and you won't be going to NYC soon.. I would go. It is not going to be around Broadway that much longer. BTW the Pantages is similar to most touring houses across the nation. They are all caverns.

Go see it! I saw it a couple of weeks ago and loved it. And that review gets it totally wrong, IMO. To me, this show obviously isn't about the plot, but rather what the music makes you feel. It celebrates how deeply music can touch the soul and how it can create feelings that words alone can't. Each song took me on an emotionally fulfilling journey. Sure it's not a traditional musical, but I love it for all of the subtlety in its tone. I actually was in the front of the balcony and thought it was fine. It was cool seeing the transitions from above. But see it!

While I didn't absolutely love it, I am very happy I went. This show was one of the better tours to hit the Pantages. It had a lot of fun energy (enough to get the whole house worked up). Get there early and have a drink on stage and let them play music for you. Then go to your seat and watch the simple story unfold. The tour cast is really top notch- which can not be said for some of the other shows to have played there recently.

I actually really enjoyed the show. It does feel like a small show and one that would be best enjoyed within the first 10 rows or so. Odd for a giant place like the Pantages.

I liked it too. I saw it from about 10 rows back on Broadway and front row in London. It's an intimate show so I also agree with the comment about it being best in the first few rows. I can't imagine I would like it anywhere near as much in the back of a 2700 seat theater like Pantages. From the close rows you can see things like how the mirrors on set are positioned to give you different views. I found it to be a lovely love story that is very subtle. Liked the music also and found the cast playing onstage a bonus. Worth $42 if it sounds like your cuppa.

I loved it, but I love this musical anyway and I had the privilege of sitting in house seats. However it did feel out of place in the Pantages. I think it would have been amazing if they had found a way to somehow bring it to the Mark Taper Forum (which has 739 seats vs the Pantages' 2,703), which would have made the show extremely intimate and IMO all the more beautiful.

It was actually very sweet. The acoustics made it hard to at times understand what they were saying. I was able to move right up front before the show started. I had seen in the seating chart a couple of hours before that a few of the prime seats had not been sold.. So I had my eye on them and moved during the pre show. I can't imagine sitting thru the whole show from my original row n seat.
