What are some shows you've seen off Broadway, nowhere near Broadway, etc. that you loved that you'd want to recommend to someone?
I recently saw Our Dear Dead Drug Lord and while it gets super freaky at the end, I DID enjoy it a lot.
I just got tickets yesterday to Everything Is Super Great at 59e59 theaters...It sounds so interesting!

I liked The Young Man From Atlanta at the Signature; A Woman of the World at 59 E. 59; and Cyrano at the DR 1.
I also saw Our Dear Dead Drug Lord. Yes the ending is quite shocking. I thought the show was done well. The four actresses were very good. I thought the chant at the end could have been shortened and would have been more effective. Overall it is a really good play. See it if you can. It has been extended.
Saw The Underlying Chris the other night. My first Eno play. Well written but I was not crazy about the direction. I wrote more in the show's thread here on BWW.
In the next few weeks I am seeing Donja R Love's "One in Two" at Signature and Lucas Hnath's "The Thin Place". Really looking forward to these two.

I have had great luck with Ars Nova, St Ann’s Warehouse, Park Avenue Armory and Bushwick Starr over the years
I am really looking forward to the new Stephen Adly Guirgis play at the Atlantic (Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven) and Greater Clements at LTC

I've seen three off-Broadway shows this fall (Seared, The Wrong Man and Scotland, PA) and enjoyed all three of them way more than some of the shows on Broadway that I've seen this year.
I already got my tickets for The Jungle at St. Ann's and Sing Street, and these shows are on the top of my wish list: Assassins, The Visitor and Peerless.

I really, really loved Dr. Ride's American Beach House at Ars Nova. It's playing for a couple more weeks. All should check it out if they get the opportunity.
Then She Fell by Third Rail Projects out in Brooklyn. It was my first immersive experience, and I’ve been obsessed with immersive since then.
I absolutely loved Scotland PA - it managed to be really funny but also felt somehow darker than Macbeth? Probably just because I actually liked most of the characters whereas in Macbeth I generally have no attachment. Highly recommend it regardless! I’ve also heard great things about Soft Power, but haven’t been yet.

Heroes of the Fourth Turning is in its final week. It’s about 4 hours of dialogue packed into a 2 hour show. But will definitely make you think.

I just looked it up--it sounds so interesting!! But it's almost all sold out =(
The current LITTLE SHOP revival playing Off-Broadway is easily one of the most perfect things I have ever seen.

I saw a good play off-off Broadway last weekend that actually, with a little tightening, has the potential to have a life beyond its current run. It's A LIFE IN THE RYE, about the life of J. D. Salinger, and it is at Theater for the New City until Nov. 24th. It's being given an excellent production and the largely full audience clearly loved it.

We thought A Musical About Star Wars was super funny and clever. I'm not a Star Wars fan, and thought I wouldn't get any of it, but it was really fun and original. Would highly recommend for a good laugh!

Bumping this because I'm wondering if anyone has seen Everything Is Super Great at 59E59 yet? I'm seeing it tomorrow!
Don't know if anybody is really interested, but I performed my solo play off-off-Broadway at The Tank back in July, and I finally got the video. Watch and (hopefully) enjoy.
I am still working on the piece even now and hope to perform it anew in the New Year.
