I'm on my way to NYC in 4 weeks. Have tickets to Equus, Tale of Two Cities, South Pacific, and Billy Elliot. I have four more slots to fill, and I intend to see August:Osage. My question to you: is there an off Broadway show you would recommend to fill one of my slots knowing I would have to give up a Broadway show to see it. I've already seen Altar Boys. I have not seen Gypsy with Patti (I saw Tyne though!) or In the Heights. I have seen Wicked, Xanadu (may try to tkts this again - I love Cheyenne), Chicago, Mamma Mia, Phantom, Hairspray, Spamalot, Spring Awakening (not opposed to seeing Hunter here), Mary Poppins, The Lion King, and Avenue Q.
So, is there something off Broadway that I really should see? Note: I am a fan of straight plays as well, but it just seems that the most of what I want to see this time is in the musical genre.
Thanks in advance,
NYC

If you have never seen Forbidden Broadway, you might enjoy that since you've seen so many of the shows that it spoofs. Fela! at 37 Arts is supposed to be wonderful. I haven't seen it yet, but its generating quite a buzz and received great reviews. It is directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening).
You should see Gypsy also though, and definitely August:Osage County. YOu can't go wrong with those two.
