Who's seeing the show in San Francisco? I'll be there Opening Night, August 8. Loved the show when I saw it front-row, center on Broadway in April 2006.

Me and my friend are going to try to see it on the 10th from the rush seats. Can't wait, and hope we get them.

I saw it in San Diego! The whole cast was really very strong. I will miss having it in San Diego.
I'm not sure yet if I will see it in Aug or Sept. I wish I lived closer to the City. I wanted to go to Opening Nite but alas, all the good seats went fast. I have been so busy though, I can wait.
I keep hoping to get at least one of my kids to come out but it is a tough sell. I am looking forward to your reviews.

Hi I'm new to the board. I'm going to see Avenue Q tonight and I was wondering if anyone knew who the drummer was? It sounds weird to post that on this but I am a drummer and I didn't know if it was the same person on the cast album or not. How is the sound at the Orpheum? The cast album has the band in the background so it's hard to hear some of it.

Has anyone rushed the show at the Orpheum yet? I'm going to try this Friday and would like a general idea of how the conditions are. Updated On: 8/10/07 at 05:41 PM

The cast is amazing. Standouts for me were Christian Anderson as Nikki/Trekkie, Angela Ai as CHristmas Eve, Kelli Sawyer as Kate and Lucy, and Minglie Chen as the Bad News Bear. And The cast were so friendly and funny at the stage door. I will miss having it in San Diego, I would gladly see it again.
I rushed just last night. The line got pretty long at 5 or 5:15, I was there at 4:30ish and I got tickets just fine. So, plan on getting there early if you want to rush and bring something with you to entertain yourself.

thanks for the info broadwaybeltr. Me and some friends are rushing tonight and were wondering how early we should get there. By the way how obstructed was the view.
Well...they did end up giving us third row Orchestra on the side, which for me, I couldn't see the last building located stage right. BUT, there were some empty seats in the house, so my friends and I ended up snagging Front Row center seats at intermission! Overall, the obstructed seats weren't all that bad.

Just got back from the show tonight. Me and my friends came in not knowing what to expect but we had a great time. This is a really strong cast, they work extremly well together. They had me, my friends, and the audience hunched over in their seats laughing at every funny moment. The one thing I did notice were the great facial expression the actors used to expresss the emotions of the puppets. Although I thought the whole company did a fantastic job tonight, the standouts for me were Robert McClure, Christian Anderson, Kelli Sawyer, and Carla Renata. The cast was also great at the stage door, very friendly and funny. They hung around for a while and were able to sign playbills and take photos with everyone that was there, albiet there were only about 10-15 people stagedooring. I'll definetly see the show atleast one more time before the run is over. And if you have the chance to catch the show, do it.
By the way I rushed and had the same experience that broadwaybelter had. Got to the theater at 4:15pm and was 2nd in line. People didn't start showing up until after 5pm. The rush seats aren't that bad either. I really wouldn't consider the view that obstructed, you don't miss too much. But we were able to find some empty seats with a better view.
How did the house look? It seems like there are still a lot of good seats available - I thought that if this show was going to do well anywhere, it'd be in SF.
One of the best new
B'way musicals of the
last 10 years! When it
beat Wicked in '04, my
respect for Tony voters
jumped higher.
I do love Wicked though...
but a company or show that
takes risks as Q did
deserves it's rewards.

Well the Orpheum is huge not sure of the exact number of seats but it's probably around 2500. If I were to put a percentage on it, I'd say 97 or 98% of the house was sold. From what I could see the balcony and mezz were sold out. The only section that had free seats was the extreme left side of the orchestra. I have a feeling the show will do well. While I was waiting for the rush tickets to be sold alot of people were coming up to the box office buying tickets for later dates.
The show has been getting great reviews in the Bay Area. Some are posted on the SF page.

WOW! What a great show! I have to admit that I was not really wanting to go as I am not a theater person. But I am so glad that my sister dragged me there. The show was so funny that I could not stop laughing. I loved everything and the musicians were sooooo good as well. I'm a drummer so I really thought Rich Dart's playing was amazing. I got to meet him after the show which was cool for me. I also got to meet some members of the cast. It was a lot of fun. Sorry to talk about the musicians but I am one so thats what I really got into the most.
I cant wait till the show comes over to the east coast. My friend is the drummer for the show and has assured me tickets and a backstage tour. :)
Saw the new pics, and they look great! Lucky SF people...
Aww, I'm so glad this show is touring! Robert McClure looks adorable, and Christian Anderson is always hysterical!
I'm glad to hear they have assembled a top notch cast.
Seeing this in late April! So Excited!

Saw the show tonight in Houston...omigosh it was so much fun
the only unfortunate thing was the crowd it was half full
it was really funny and the actors were really talented and sung beautifully.
Princeton (Robert McClure) very good actor and singer, really made the character that people would care for
Kate Monster (Sawyer) very talented singer, and really hit it doing the double role of Kate Monster and Lucy. Really moving fine fine line, and a great actress too
Christmas Eve (Ai) my favorite character, she had great comedic timing and schtich and nailed the character very well, and has a great singing voice
Gary COleman (Renata) was good in the role, wasn't great but good, can't relaly put my finger on what she could've done better but definitely overshadowed by the other members.
OVerall the other cast was really good, the audio had some problems as sometimes i could hear them speaking, but the choreographed scenes were funny, i definitely recommended seein this show on tour

I just saw the show last night in Kansas City.
First off, downtown Kansas City was insane.
Across the street was a Garth Brooks concert, next door was a circus (literally) and in the Music Hall played Avenue Q.
Overall I enjoyed myself a lot!
I had never seen the show elsewhere so I didn't know what to expect.
Living in Kansas I always wonder if tour casts put on a half assed show because it's "just Kansas" however if the cast was just performing half assed it didn't show!
Robert McClure as Princeton/Rod was amazing. His character change b/w the two was very definite. And comedic timing was amazing.
Kelli Sawyer as Kate/ Lucy the Slut: yet another stand out performer. As the post above me stated, her "Fine Fine Line" was very moving and you felt for the character... even if it was a furry puppet. ha
Only problems I had....
Cole Porter as Brian, sometimes funny jokes that had a lot of potential were thrown away. It took a while to understand that "I'm not Wearing Underwear Today" was an act at the bar, I was really confused as to why that was thrown in the show then I had to process that he was performing that. Make sense?
A funny part added to the show just for Kansas City, after they passed the hats around during "The Money Song" they went back on stage and asked what they had collected from the audience, and Princeton says, "Not much.. only a ticket stub to the Garth Brooks concert!" the audience went crazy with laughter.
Seeing as how I haven't seen this show on Broadway I was wondering if there are any changes made from the Broadway show to the tour. If so could anyone elaborate?
Overall great show!
I also saw the show in Houston. The cast was great but I was disappointed that there weren't a lot of people there. Of course, we saw it on Halloween, but we got to move to a closer section b/c there were so many empty seats. I was really surprised since there was so much advertisement for this show.
I am seeing it on November 17th (my birthday
) in Des Moines, IA. I am glad the reviews have been favorable.
