Jane Krakowski is clearly a great choice but as I've learned from others on the board, she was actually supposed to open the show and got fired because apparently she considered the book to be sexist and so Neil Simon decided that she was not going to be Charity.
I believe Sarah Jessica Parker is the perfect actress for this role, her singing voice is good enough for Charity, I'm sure she can dance the role too, and she has perfect comic timing.
And if we are going for dream situations, then Charlotte D'Amboisse should replace Applegate but the Weisslers would never let her play this role full-time unless the show becomes an established hit, and I don't think that's gonna be happenning anytime soon.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
