Im trying to convince my two friends who's theyre first time ever in NYC to go see a broadway show, they're on the fence and not really into broadway stuff and we're all on a budget. I figured this should be easy to get Rush tickets since its not so well known. Any feedback on this? I like the two main actors, one of my friends is super into the type of movies Nick Kroll does, but my second friend is a total enigma as to what she might like
Regardless I want to get you guys opinions! Any affordable off broadway or easy on broadway rush tickets? Do you recommend Oh hello?
Oh well be in new york this weekend leaving sunday morning

I haven't seen it yet (two more weeks!), but I've heard awesome things about it. I've heard many people on these boards talk about how they went in not expecting to enjoy it, and left loving it. John Mulaney is my favorite comedian, personally I think his humor is something everyone can enjoy. I'm also fairly certain that the two of them have done a couple of talk shows totally in character as the old men they play in the show. Maybe check that out and see if it's for you guys.

I walked in not expecting much or knowing anything about it (or them) and left loving it. Really thought it was funny and I'm not one who usually liked comedy too much.

It's pretty cute. My 16 year old enjoyed it more than did I. we rushed for the matinee on Veterans weekend. line was far.longerbthan I expected, and continued far after us.
We didn't get rush, but front row mezz for a very reasonable price.

Dont do it. They told me at the box office that most of the rush seats are partial view. My wife and I saw the show. I loved it, she hated it. The difference is that I'm from NYC and she's not. Have your friend look at YouTube clips of the show. Everyone I know that isn't from here didn't like the show. If you really want to go, get them on TDF.

I haven't seen the latest incarnation, but I saw it while it was touring before it went to Broadway. If your friends like comedy, I think there is a good chance they will like Oh, Hello. It's incredibly funny, and unlike any other show I have seen. It's not a typical Broadway show at all.

I showed the clips from broadway and from their web series to my friend whos really into comedies, she loved broadway clip and really hated the web series one...the web series was a lot more NYish so i see where you're coming from. :///
Any other relatively cheap broadway shows? My friend (whos not into comedies) was looking at the lion the witch and the wardrobe (off broadway) but I have a feeling thats way to kiddish

I laughed for the first half hour and thought it was a pleasant surprise. Then the show kept going on that one pseudo-joke for 90 more minutes. (A full two hours at my performance.)

I saw this when they did it in Boston and absolutely loved it! If you're familiar with Nick Kroll or John Mulaney's work and like it, I say go for it.

I enjoyed it and found it to be quite funny! Far from the best thing I have seen, but I still enjoyed it.

Do you think it's too risky to try for TKTS tickets on Dec 30? I realize that week is crazy but damn tickets are so expensive for such a nontraditional play

100% yes. One of the funniest and most enjoyable nights at the theater I've ever had.
If your friend is a Nick Kroll fan, they should be very into this. My non-Broadway going friends have all given positive feedback.

I loved it when I saw it last month - I really enjoy Kroll and Mullaney though so I am biased. I strongly considered seeing it again two weeks later but had a long drive home so didn't want to stay for a 3pm matinee.
