Have to say I attended a matinee of "A Raisin in the Sun" on April 28th. I just wasn't thinking that Sean Combs (P Diddy puff Daddy, Sean Puffy Combs, The Artist Formally known as Daddy!) was going to attract a lot of young kids till I turned the corner and saw all of them in line! And then it hit me! Needless to say I was not happy as I just knew this was going to be a rowdy crowd. A lot were in their track suits and really dressed down (Why don't their teachers tell them that they are going to the theatre and there is a proper way to dress?!!). Well, I gotta give Kudos to these kids!!! With the exception a a very few, they were more well behaved than the adults! The only problem I had was with two elderly ladies sitting next to me in the second row who commented on everything!! And just above a whisper so that people behind and in front (And no doubt on stage at times!) Could hear them. At the beginning of act 2, Just after the curtain rose, they went for the candy with the noisy wrappers and one of them took a fingernail file out. That's when I decided I had had enough and simply told her that her behavior was inappropriate and she stopped. I was thanked by a number of people sitting around me.

Hey...there is an advantage with an older audience. A friend and I went to see "Bea Arthur - Just Between Friends" and were clearly a full 25-40 years younger than the average. We did our usual race to the restroom at intermission in order to avoid the typically long lines, and as we were going up the stairs on the way back to our seats...we passed everyone else as they were just heading down. Ah, youth!

sean, your story is hilarious.

I saw a Wednesday afternoon matinee of Sound of Music once. Everyone there must have been there on the senior discount except for my brothers and me. It was actually hilarious. Sound of Music is really popular for that crowd because of reasons already mentioned, but the turnout couldn't have been funnier. My friends and I refer to Sunday/Wednesday matinees as the "Blue-Hair Matinees."
