She was wonderful! I actually didn't realize she was this old. About 7-8 years ago I saw her onstage, and I wouldn't have guessed that she was in her 80s at the time. She played the Chorus in Sophocles' Elektra at ACT in San Francisco. The production was pretty meh, but she totally commanded the stage. I have a distinct memory of her delivering this incredibly dramatic monologue, underscored by some fast cello music, and I remember thinking "This is Drama with a capital D" !

She was unmatchable, on stage and on screen. Of course, the headlines will go to the big movie roles, but to me she will always be Anna Madrigal.

Posted: 5/1/21 at 7:25pmOlympia was a force of nature. She’s the definition of someone living their passion (theatre) and it leading to a life so big and beyond their wildest dreams. She didn’t have mainstream success until her mid to late 50s. She was an absolute marvel both as an actress and a humanitarian. Rest In Peace Olympia. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.

I will think of her going to sleep under the stars, as she did in the recent Tales of the City miniseries on Netflix.
