Leonard Bernstein’s debut Broadway musical was a timeless love letter to “New York, New York.” Written in 1944 with the legendary duo of Betty Comden and Adolph Green, On the Town tells the tale of three American sailors on a 24-hour leave before they depart for battle in World War II.
