Haha - I noticed Quiet was cut at the same moment.
Did they cut "Yesterday I Loved You" too?

Disappointed -- and now Bush's speech. Things are definitely looking up.

I think Director Kathleen Marshall and Casting Director Jay Binder should be held responsible for most of the things that were wrong with this. The cast is doing their best, but they just aren't hittin' it. At least not for me. Music's fine by me, except that I missed the missing songs and wasn't crazy about the dance arrangements for Spanish Panic. Speaking of Spanish Panic - I didn't see any of the build to everyone's exhaustion that made me believe Fred was unstoppable. Gotta tell the story in the choreography or it might as well be cut, too.

Was someone just completely off on that song...?
What about the Goofy story?

Id like to know if that little girl ever found goofy or whatever she was sulking about.
I was half expecting Winnifred to die at the end or something completely left field.
she was looking for princess fred ,

But they never finished that story!
Jeez, tell me RENT was better than that...
Ah, well, I thought it was enjoyable. Flawed but fun.
REnt was better than that. Phantom of the Opera was better than that.

This was cute. I've never seen this musical or heard any other versions, so I have nothing to compare this to.
I was surprised that Victor Garber was no way involved in this movie. He seems to pop in every Disney Musical.
I watched it. I've never seen the show or heard hardly any of the music, but I have to say I liked it. I kept swooning over Matt Morrison the whole time, though. The man is so....attractive.

Overall: Did I like it? Yes. Did I think it was a good representation of the show? Absolutely not. Agreed with lamentingenvelope - flawed, but fun.

curious... of all you who hated it, or disliked it? have any of you seen the previous two tv versions? I am watching in the 60's one now and the minstrel married larkin in secrecey, it has its flaws too, but the live audience makes it better, and carol, oh carol is amazing.
btw normandy is sung second in the 60's version, and once again to larkin by the minstrel(harry).

This was really bad. Like a lot of others said, Carol's personality and facial expressions are far too large for the camera.
Matthew is wonderful, but he needs to move on to another character type. He was like a non-Italian Fabrizio.
Denis was cute.
Tracy wasn't charming at all.
Whoever played Lady Larkin was somply awful, vocally.
And the camera work, especially during "Shy," was soooo awkward. The whole climbing up the staircase camera thing was so odd.
Okay was anybody totally like "Awww" when Dennis shed the little tear? That was so freakin' cute. I LOVE Dennis O'Hare.
Otherwise... not great
www this is a good movie...

"Carol's personality and facial expressions were too large for the camera."
Right, the woman's only spent her life on television (in closeup) perfecting her own style of physical and verbal comedy. Her expressions are SUPPOSED to be comically big and overdone. It's a MUSICAL COMEDY, for heaven's sake.
Roninjoey: I totally went 'awwwww' too.
I liked this film. Of course, I have nothing to compare it too, but still. Carol was hysterical. She stole the show. Out of all the musical numbers, I LOVED the Hapily Ever After number the most. Are there better fims? Hell, yes. But as LamentingEnvelope said: Flawed, but fun.
