A lot of one-man shows tend to be self-written, but off the top of my head there's I Am My Own Wife, Thom Paine: Based on Nothing, The Santaland Diaries, and Buyer and Cellar.

"Underneath the Lintel" by Glen Berger is a beautiful one. "Satchmo at the Waldorf" by Terry Teachout, about Louis Armstrong. "The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey" by James Lecesne. Anna Deavere Smith's solo plays, including "Notes from the Field" and "Let Me Down Easy," are all great and include both male and female characters, so they could be performed by a gifted actor of any gender or race.
