Exactly what adam said sueleen ! Of course I'll go to museums etc. but why would I go to a museum at 8 o clock in the evening ???
Jay I am also seeing it at the Imperial ! Ok, 'll try for a discounted mezz and if nothing good comes up, I guess I'll have to get a full price orch ! Or maybe wait for tkts when there ?

Posted: 3/21/08 at 10:11pmI sat in the first row of the Rear Mezz at the Imperial for August and it was great! I didn't feel too far away from the action. Some of my friends from school were seeing the show that night and wanted me to move down to them in the Orchestra, but I refused because the view was better up in the Mezz. I would suggest the mezz for August.

Ok, that was really STRANGE ! I logged to Telecharge with the discount code for mezz, to see availability ! Only rear mezz
for the dates I searched ! Then, for the fun of it, I checked for tomorrow matinee and Sunday and guess what ? Good ORCHESTRA seats came up at the DISCOUNT price !!! And it was back to mezz after Tuesday ! Could it be that, close to the performance, they release discounted orchestra seats, too but don't mention it ? BroadwayBox says clearly mezz only, yet if I was going tomorrow, I'd be perfectly able to get 6th row center orchestra seats for the discounted price !!!

Posted: 3/21/08 at 10:39pmYep, they hold those seats off as premium, and then when no one buys them for premium prices, they are released, usually the night before or a few hours before the performance for regular or discount code price.

Posted: 3/21/08 at 10:47pmI know what you're saying, but I don't think they were all premium seats, because I also saw Row E side, Row P and Row S. What puzzled me, was that the discount code clearly states only MEZZ seats !

They definitely release the premium seats.
It also seems as though, at a certain point, they allow any unsold seats to be sold at a discount.

Posted: 3/21/08 at 11:10pmI'll guess I'll wait then ! From what I saw, there are PLENTY of good seats available for any date ! But I made up my mind and I WILL see it !

Hey musical fan--
I just wanted to assure you that I have sat front row center for August: Osage and loved it from there and didn't miss a thing! Way back when I bought my seats (I saw it in December) the first row popped up for the discount code and I went for it, not knowing the set was three levels. I think the ONLY thing I missed was maybe being able to see the feet and ankles of actors on the third floor, but the intimacy and emotional power of being that close to it couldn't be beat. I would totally recommend being in the first few rows of the center orchestra, if you're the kind of person that, like me, enjoys the closeness of that, though I'm sure all these other posters had good experiences in the mezzanine. Enjoy! And you're making the right choice...I saw both Heights and August, and the latter is the better work.

I got my ticket for AUGUST last night from TKTS. I must've gotten it at 7, and curtain was at 7:30. Front mezz 5th row center seat. The section and seat was fantastic, although closer would've been ideal.
Rear mezz isn't bad if you don't want to burn a hole in your pocket, but if you don't mind, the ticket at TKTS was only 56 bucks. First couple of rows of front mezz looks wonderful.
On a side note, I wasn't really impressed with the gentleman who replaced Dennis Letts as Beverly Weston. I forgot his name.
Rondi Reed is for sure going to be nominated. She was so great!

Posted: 3/22/08 at 8:01amI gave in !!! Patience was never a virtue of mine, so I went ahead and bought a full price ticket on the MATINEE of Wed April 9, first row center Orch !!! I am seeing HAIRSPRAY that evening, so I thought that, the combination of serious and fun theater in one day, is ideal ! And I still have Tuesday free for In The Heights !!!

Great decision! Honestly, like I said in my post, you will be fine from that seat, and blown away even more by the emotion of it all. If you need to use the bathroom during either of the ten-minute intermissions, I'd run back real quickly, though: to me, that was the only downside of being so close to the front, but I was able to do that, too!
Very cool theater day, Hairspray has always been one of my faves!

Thak you for your input ! I was really tempted by mezz, after the suggestions of so many friends, but I think for a PLAY, it would be better for me to be so close and have nothing between me and those great actors ! Even if it means mising a few bits and pieces !
And can't wait to enjoy for my second time the sheer happiness that is HAIRSPRAY !!!
