I imagine they meant Marni sang with the nun's choir, and probably did some solo lines.

Dan Truhitte lives here in the Charlotte, NC area in Concord. I'm not sure what his full-time career is, but I know he teaches voice and acting and has a concert act that he performs.

I was actually in a production of "The Sound of Music" with him about 17 years ago where he played Captain Von Trapp. There was even a bit on Entertainment Tonight back then about his return to the show.

His son, Thomas Rolf Truhitte (yes his middle name is Rolf!) is a professional opera singer.

I see him from time to time around town or at productions at the local theatre. He is a really nice guy and enjoys talking about his experience in the movie.

Dan married the Leisl double, whose parents were named Leisl and Rolf.

Next on the Wendy Williams Show: Marni Nixon. She was Hollywood's secret songbird and could have been the next Julie Andrews. You'll hear in Marni's own words how the stars of yesterday kept her from getting her moment in the spotlight. Tune in on October 29 to the Wendy Williams Show.

(For the literal minded on this board, this is a joke).

I saw Marni Nixon when a production of My Fair Lady came to town. She played Harold Higgins mother. BTW - still ticks me off Julie Andrews didn't play Eliza and they dubbed Audrey Hepburn with Marni Nixon's voice. But, I guess then Julie couldn't have played Mary Poppins. Also ticks me off she didn't play Guenivere in Camelot. Was Vanessa Redgrave dubbed?

I remember on an episode of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" one of the questions was who was the singing voice for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. I said the answer before the 4 choices ever came up. My kids looked at me like I was an alien. "How do you know this stuff?"

Back on topic: The SoM tour in Saltzburg was pretty much the highlight of my life.

>>>"Oh, and Duane Chase is a software engineer in the Seattle area. Not exactly a "shepherd."<<<

Then it must have been the other boy, Nicholas Hammond, who was the shepherd.

I did the tour back in 2007 and it was just plain amazing.

Nicholas Hammond is an actor in Australia. I think you're thinking of the boy who played Charlie in Willy Wonka. He became a farmer or something to that effect.

I totally forgot about Marni Nixon! Yeah, they should invite her too!

It wouldn't be that difficult to have Dan Truhitte present. Eleanor Parker is a stretch though but I would love to see what she thinks of the Sound of Music phenomenon.

Is anyone else going to see Sound of Music on the big screen either on the 19th or 26th of October? Tickets are only $10! I'm surprised BWW didn't have an article for it...

Will they invite the girl that had to double for the youngest daughter because the youngest daughter got too fat and Christopher Plummer said he wasn't going to try and carry her in the last scene?

Thrilled about this! Last year I attended an event and Christopher Plummer did a huge mea culpa about his disdain for the movie and his very bad behavior on the set. It would be great fro him to set the record straight on Oprah.

Oh yeah, here are some "lost endings" to the movie:

Peter Ostrum from Willy Wonka is a veterinarian specializing in farm animals.

I thought Eleanor Parker has passed as well...

I watched the reunion today and I have to be honest I found Christopher Plummer to be a weird guy. I can see why the rumors of him being difficult to work on the set were true. I also couldn't believe he taught Charmian how to drink. Overall, it was a terrific reunion.

The Sound of Music was the first film in which Marni Nixon sang ON-SCREEN, if anyone was wondering.

Kym Karath seemed unhappy with the filming process.
I took the SOM tour on my honeymoon----in 1973! The church where they were married was so small---they filmed the aisle scene a few times to make it appear longer. I loved the tour--it was surreal seeing everything in person.

Just watched this today -- please tell me I'm not the only one who teared up watching the young Von Trapp singers performing Edelweiss so beautifully.

I, too, took the Sound of Music tour, in the early 90's. Loved going to the actual church in Mondsee where they filmed the wedding. On my own later on I went up to Nonnberg where the abbey is. I remember going up there on another visit several years later -- the gate was open and I walked round the outer courtyard (which wasn't seen in the film). As I walked back to the gate I heard an American voice ask, "is this where they filmed?" I answered yes as I walked out the gate! By far the most touching moment was not Christopher Plummer blowing the classic whistle, nor the real Von Trapp descendants...it was the Vietnam vet who said he sat through the film 127 times during his time overseas. Those three hours were magical, he said, and I can well imagine they were.

I run hot & cold with Oprah, but I enjoyed every minute of this. I run H & C with Rosie, too, but I loved her tribute. All the vid tributes were wonderful - especially the young deaf woman. I pretty much lost it when she described hearing for the first time - and to have it be Julie singing "The hills are alive . . ."

How come they never have any of the nuns in these reunions? And where was Rolfe?

Does anyone have a recording of the show from which they could make copies available - or know of another way to get one?
