"Oprah Winfrey will reunite the enitre [sic] "Sound of Music" film cast...
Wow - I can't wait to see how Richard Haydn and Peggy Wood look after all this time in the ground...

Posted: 9/27/10 at 3:28pmI saw the word "entire" and wondered how many cast members have passed. I noticed there wasn't a listing of who was going to be on the show.

Oh, stupid EW. She can't sing anymore and he didn't do his own singing, so no matter how much they "better" do it, I sincerely doubt they will.

I wonder why Christopher Plummer did not appear on the morning show with Julie Andrews and the cast five years ago.

Oh lord I hope she doesn't make the "Von Trapp kids" perform "So Long, Farewell..."!

I'm sooooo excited for this! I'm loving all the promotion this anniversary edition is getting!
Plummer wasn't with the cast on GMA five years ago because he was filming a movie.
Duane Chase is a software engineer or something like that in Washington state.
I wonder if they will invite Eleanor Parker and Daniel Truhitte to the event? Aside from Andrews, Plummer, and the kids, those two are the ones that are alive.
I got my tickets to see it on the big screen on the 26th of October!!! Can't wait!!!!!

The "kids" from the film (all seven) were reunited just a few years ago for the DVD release. There's a documentary with all of them in it. The hardest one to get there is Nicholas Hammond, who lives in Sydney, Australia.
The only "new" part is that they haven't been reunited with both Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer together.
And I seriously doubt they could get Eleanor Parker to show up. She is very reclusive now (for the past decade or so), and is rarely if ever seen in public. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to get Daniel Truhitte, though, if they wanted to.
Oh, and Duane Chase is a software engineer in the Seattle area. Not exactly a "shepherd." LOL

Posted: 9/28/10 at 8:46amI didn't even know Eleanor Parker was still alive. I'd like to see "the Baroness" reunite with them too, if she's well enough, but besides that the focus for these reunions seem always to be on Maria, the Captain, and the Von Trapp children, and I would expect that even if there were more notable cast members still alive (Richard Haydn), just because that's who producers believe everyone wants to see. Marni Nixon doesn't seem to be mentioned, either, and as far as I know she's still alive. It's been either Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer (as they were for "On Golden Pond"), Julie Andrews and the children or just the children.

Posted: 9/28/10 at 11:36amThey should invite Marni Nixon, too. She was one of the nuns (Sister Sophia)and the voice for Reverend Mother. Yes, I'm a SOM trivia machine.

"Peggy Wood was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars for her performance. Singing voice dubbed by Margery McKay."
Are we sure this isn't correct? It sure doesn't sound like Ms. Nixon.

Well, I could swear Marni Nixon did Reverend Mother, but you're right, she would have to do "turkey gobble" older voice. I thought it was on the 25th anniversary DVD they said she had a regular role and a singing role. I could be wrong, but it would be the 1st time I've ever been wrong about SOM!
Edit - Well, did some research and I was wrong. It wasn't Marni Nixon. I guess Peggy Wood was a singer in her young years, but by the time she did SOM her voice was gone.
Leaving the computer now with tail between my legs.
