That 2 actors Equity thing seems to happen a lot. I mean, just look at Nathan - was born Joseph Lane but switched because there was already a Joseph in Equity.

"LoL. Larry. Nope dont see it working. Does that remind you of Taboo? Whats you name? Marcus - your real name. Gary. Ok i know that isnt the exact lyrics but you guys know what i mean."
Heh. Larry.
And it's:
George: What's your name?
Marcus: Marcus.
George: No, your real name.
Marcus: That IS my real name.
George: Out with it.
Marcus: Gary. Marcus is, you know, more artistic!
Yep, I'm nuts.

I'm gonna have to agree with Euan Morton. (plugs her fav. star)
Yea his name is really Iain. Which is pronounced like Ian, but that's not super common here.
Asa Somers is a cool name as well!

One of the ensemble members of Wicked's name is Ioana (Alphonso). I think Jessica Snow Wilson goes by "Snow". Swoosie Kurtz (is Swoose a nickname or a real name?)
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/29/03
Don't know WHY I know this, but Swoosie was named after her father's airplane or something...the plane was named for "half-swan, half-goose."
Like I said, I do not know why I know this...
Jessica Snow Wilson = Jennifer Love Hewitt, then?
Shoshana is indeed a flower; it means "lily."
I think Isabel is going to get more common. Isabella was #11 last year, it's been climbing gradually in popularity.

Another name you don't hear everyday is Karmine, such as Karmine Alers. I absolutley love that name!!
I don't think Bernadette is all that unusual. I know a lot of people named Bernadette (but maybe if you don't know anyone by that name, then I guess you'd think it was unusual).

how do you pronounce idina's real first name?
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
Something like uh-DI-nuh, I think. Pretty much the same as the way she currently spells it.
Wicked4Lyffe- do you mean how do you pronounce 'Adena' or however it's spelled? I think it's probably uh-DI-nuh, like Plum said.

Is Ms. Menzel Jewish? Because then I imagine her name might have originally spelled Adina- it means "delicate" in Hebrew. Of course, the pronunciation is off, but Americans never pronounce Hebrew right. :)
Barrett Foa...kinda reminds me of feather boa
Broadway Legend Joined: 6/14/04
she is jewish (idina) - on her website it says that she changed her last name, but mentions nothing about her first name. Perhaps it really is spelled Idina but is pronounced like Adina. I know a lot of people who changed the spelling of their kids names to be unique.
shlamdiddly - that's what i was going to say!!! i love his name but it always reminds me of feather boa too!!!
"Barrett Foa...kinda reminds me of feather boa"
haha, me too! Every time I think of Barrett, I picture a feathered boa. It's kind of silly.

Tovah is a another very common Jewish name. Funny how it's exotic here.
Well, there aren't a lot of Tovahs on Broadway.
It's so exotic here, in fact, that she does an entire song about it in her cabaret act.

Is Kenya Unique Massey related to Brandi Chavonne Massey???
I'm with Krakowski's list. He/she's got the list with the most uncommon names on it. Orfeh is the oddest one I've ever heard that I believe is not a stage name. I've heard all of the other names. LaChanze, I think, is a stage name, and Slam's real name is something like Salaam. There are a ton of Shoshanna's, just not in the entertainment biz.
