Bruiser in Legally Blonde - she can bark after all.
i would like to see her do another original role as well. if a revival simply must be done, i think she needs to tackle something Merman-esque. a little Panama Hattie or Call Me Madam or something horribly wonderful.
as a general rule, I'd be interested in seeing Patti in a straight play, but I think she'd be an amazing Claire Zachanassian in Dürrenmatt's The Visit.
She needs to do Call Me Madam. And I think she'd make a fierce Margo Channing in Applause
How was she as Desiree? I actually prefer someone who doesn't have such a rich, full voice playing that role, but then again, I do love Sally Ann Howe's take.
What about Annie Oakley?
I would love to see her Dolly... her "Love look in my Window" and the scene around that number would be beautiful.
I want to see her do Morrible, just for ****s and giggles...
Even though she can dance, I'd never buy that LuPone as Cassie would be trying out to be in the chorus of a show. She's also much too old for the role.
If Chita doesn't want to do The Visit, LuPone would be great in the role.
I'd still love to see her, and I know she's too old, in a full Annie Get Your Gun Revival. Call Me Madam is great too. I think she's a tad too cold on stage to play Dolly.
I'd actually rather see her in a new role written for her voice.
i agree i would not like her very much as desiree, her voice is too powerful
what about Joanne in Company?
also, Mrs. Von Tussle would be exceptional for her, but of course she would never do it
i think Patti would make a serious Elle Woods. lord knows she can tackle the most challenging song on Broadway
I would sacrifice my firstborn son to see her as Penelope Pennywise in URINETOWN.
She would sing the HELL out of "Privelige to Pee".
Who's with me?
And I think she'd make a fierce Margo Channing in Applause
*faints*
Mame
The Witch In Into The Woods
I would LOVE to see her Joanne in Company, it would be fierce!
and LOL to Tony's suggestion.
Her Joanne, Ms. Pennywise, Witch, & Drowsy Chaperone would be brilliant.
If she was Latina, she'd make a killer Abuela Claudia.
And if they had gone with the original character design from the movie, I would love to see what she'd do with Ursula in TLM.
I would like to see LuPone and Bernadette Peters retired to the Actor's Home in New Jersey
She would be fierce as Pennywise!
well now that we're talking about her being Latina and being in ITH, i would cast her as Camilla over Abuela. Her enough would be super fierce.
(this is just a comparrison though, i wouldn't actually cast her in that role)

Definitely would love to see her take on the classics of Dolly and especially Mame. And abbbbsolutely agree with Call Me Madam. If there's anyone alive with the fun stage ego Merman had, it's her. The Hostess With the Mostes' on the Ball. Seriously? I'm there.

I would love to see her as Mrs. Madrigal in the upcoming Tales of the City musical (Jeff Whitty/Scissor Sisters). that would be brilliant.
otherwise, her Ravinia shows, plus this:
* Dolly in HELLO DOLLY (I don't think she's too old)
* Joanne in COMPANY
* Ana in the RINK
* Vera in MAME, but its too small a role
* Phyllis in FOLLIES

Ana in THE RINK! Yes, I forgot all about that. Oh, how I loved those rumours of John Doyle directing her in a London revival! If only...
