Oz goes to NYC

So today's the day - in 14 hours I'll be leaving Heathrow for JFK.

While I'm there, I've decided to write a travel diary/blog thing of my adventures. Check it out: OzInNyc.wordpress.com.

re: Oz goes to NYC

Sorry you missed Mary Poppins, it's been on TKTS though... and I'm sure they will also exchange your ticket at the box office if you explain what happened.

Glad you enjoyed Shrek.

re: Oz goes to NYC

Update time:
Today I saw Heidi's last show in Mermaid. She was the complete definition of the word fierce!! Totally sassy and evil. The audience was great, everyone got entrance applause and stage door was completely packed. She was so gracious and thankful at curtain call - tearing up as the curtain fell.

Norm Lewis looked bored, but with voice and that 6-pack I couldn't really complain.

Got my window card signed by EVERY single cast member ... except for Sean Palmer who rather rudely snubbed me off. Yes he has no obligation to sign, but to ignore heaps of fans seemed rude. Sierra confirmed her involvement in Phantom 2.

All in all, a great performance and another great day in NYC.

re: Oz goes to NYC

So .. you would all be forgiven for thnk I had disappeared into the musical teatre abyss known as New York City. For some reason my blog was DELETED (am trying to recover it, but so fair that's to no avail).

Since my last update, I've seen 9 to 5 twice, Shrek another time, South Pacific, West Side Story, Avenue Q and tonight I experienced the most cathartic experience I've ever had in a theatre. The current Broadway revival of Hair is a rare treat on - one leaves with that beaming joy that only a Broadway show can give, plus one leaves having been intellectually and artistically stimulated by very intelligent and thought provoking theatre. There is not one fault in this masterstroke revival that deserves the Tony for Best Revival if a Musical.

Tomorrow is Blithe Spirit, Thursday is my fouth time at 9 to 5, Friday is Wicked, Saturday is my last day and I'll be catching In the Heights and Next to Normal.

I'll try keep you all updated with the next few days :) x

re: Oz goes to NYC

Well we saw 9 to 5 last night..it was as good as everyone said (even Mama!).....it'll be huge...I think the discounts will be off after the opening!..it was full, even on performance 7.
The whole spectacle was original, well thought out, the dancing great and the songs way better than I expected...laugh out loud.
South Pacific tonight...and we may try the lottery for WSS this afternoon.
