Why does it take forever for my, Seattle, PBS station to air theatre related programs. Sometimes they don't show at all (we never got Camelot). The Grey Gardens documentary isn't scheduled to air, as far as I know, and the opera airing in NYC tonight isn't anywhere to be found here. Is anyone's PBS station this lame?
we got Camelot and Company, and I'm in Richmond, VA, but we aren't getting Dr. Atomic
What are you bitching about? GREY GARDENS: From East Hampton to Broadway aired on its premiere date: December 23rd, on Seattle's KCTS 9. Its also re-aired this past Sunday morning (December 28th) at 3am. You had to search for the INDEPENDENT LENS series and not GREY GARDENS.
Here is/was its schedule in Seattle:

Hmmm...Well Independent Lens has been on, but I searched it several times and other episodes were listed. Maybe their cable listings are wrong.

i live in connecticut and we barely have any theatre on pbs. i think there's a show called Theatre Talk on sometimes. but other than that, i don't really see anything involving theatre on.

PBS is heavily influenced by viewer donations. If you want to change the schedule, you have to donate big $$.
WTTW Channel 11 Chicago didn't show the Grey Gardens documentary either. The station told me that they have the rights to the program till 2010 and may air it later. Ugh. They are showing the Independent Lens documentary about the font Helvetica in January but not Grey Gardens ?! Grey Gardens is finishing a successful run at Northlight Theatre in the Chicago suburb of Skokie this week. The timing would have been perfect.
I'm just outside of Washington, DC and we just lucked out on the Grey Gardens episode. We get 3 different PBS stations but only one of the three is going to carry Grey Gardens. (Thank you Maryland Public Television!)
Both of our stations here in Denver do well. We get just about everything. Usually a few days after New York but we still get the programs.
xbri, if the Theater Talk show is the one with Riedel and Haskins, watch it. A good program. You can also watch it online at their website but the episodes take a bit of time to go up online. I watch it online all the time here in Denver.
Fortunately for me I pick up channel 13 from NYC and i get all the nice shows. An I live all the way out in the middle of the atlantic ocean. kind of.
