I love this show. The score is great and Ben Vereen is an absolute god. Am i right in thinking that this show has never been revived on Broadway after its orginal run. If so why not?
I reckon one of the reason is that Fosse's choreography is so strong that anything too different might up set the balance. I'd say leave it in the hands of Rufus Norris. He created the stage version of Festen (which didnt work too well on Broadway, but was a hit here in London) Marketboy(oneof the best plays i've seen in a while) and his verison of Cabaret opens here in a few weeks
Unfortunately, per Kathryn Doby, the 23-minutes of missing footage was erased by David Sheehan's clever editing staff. The show was videotaped, not filmed on celluloid, therefore once it's erased it's gone forever.
What's on the DVD is all that survives. Period.
Yeah, I love Pippin!! I was in it in the summer of 2004 at my summer theatre and it was a blast! Ben Vereen is awesome! I love Stephen Schwartz! "Think about the sun, Pippin!"
Then the Australian/New Zealand credit in the opening titles is there for laughs?
