i read that the PIPPIN cast CD will be avilable digitally on June 4th and physically on Jul 9th. my question is ... would possibly be available physically at the theatre when?

I'm seeing the show this afternoon and can ask for you.

Does anyone know more about cast albums and can explain why it takes so long for the digital release to be available? They tweeted that the final mix was finished on May 8th. What else has to be done between then and June 4th to allow for the digital release?

Designing the digital booklet, and licensing for the photos/lyrics that are included, I suppose.

Don't they still have to make edits and such? Just because the recording portion is done doesn't mean the rest isn't. There is editing to be done, I'd assume sound mixing of some nature takes place.

At intermission. Two different merch sellers said the CD will be available at the beginning of July.

Final mix usually implies that all of that is finished. Hence the word "final."
