I saw the show yesterday and the number looks much better on stage. While the Letterman performance was great, of course it would translate awkwardly on a totally different stage and context.

I think they should do the orgy on TV, no lead in, no explanation, just do it and walk out the studio in silence...

Letterman isn't the only one to do Broadway performance, Jimmy Fallon has had a "Broadway Week" for the past couple of years.

That's right, and I know Leno and Conan have had occasional cast performances as well, but they're rare (I remember Leno having a few years back the LA cast of WIcked, where his biger performance stage helped.)
