Hi gang,
I saw the show last night and really enjoyed it. From start to finish I was thrilled. I don't want to say anything about the show since they ask you not to, but I was curious to see what you thought.

I really wanted to see this, but I am such a TOTAL wuss that I was afraid to go
Can I ask -- is it as scary as it sounds?
With Teller involved, I would expect it to be visually stunning and beautiful, and that's what I'd like to see

The simple answer to is it scary is yes. However, it is a beautiful piece of theatre and abslutely stunning! That being said, if you sit against the wall it won't be as scary. My girlfriend had the wall and had it easier than me.
If you go, enjoy!

I had a chance for comp tickets and part of me really wants to see it, but man I am such a wuss.
I hear it's great, though.

Is the seating general admission? (as in -- can I get a wall seat after I get there, or must I pick one when I book)
I'm all about the wall seat

Posted: 1/16/11 at 11:35pmThe seating is not general admission. My girlfriend just happened to get lucky and got row E, seats 9 and 11. She was in 11 and relatively safe.

I'm not loving the 'relatively' part, but thanks bunches for your helpful advice
I'll just keep reminding myself that the audience has always lived thru the show so far...

I saw the show in oct. I went by myself and unfortunately, sat in the farthest seat you could get. last row, far left seat up against the wall. two things: I wish I had gone with someone to get scared with (cause I wasn't really scared at all) and I wish I had gotten a closer seat. I feel that I got a different performance than people did a few rows down from me.
so, may advice: go with someone and get seats close to the stage.

Posted: 1/17/11 at 2:31pmIs this a limited run/in danger of closing? I've been meaning to see it, but won't be in the city again until March.

When I checked yesterday, you could buy tix thru 3/6, but the closing date was listed as Open-ended
I need a ticket for 3/13, so I'm hoping they just aren't selling tix that far out yet

The show is not in danger of closing. They just extended to mid May and I was told at the theatre that they sell out at almost every show. The weekends are selling the best, but there is no danger of closing.
I agree with the other poster about sitting close. It definately makes for a better experience. However, if you are easily scared, go for the wall. I was one seat off the wall, and thought I was safe, but alas I was not. By the way, it is definately a show to go with someone.

Posted: 1/19/11 at 12:26pmI saw this show last night and really enjoyed it. I got a TDF ticket and ended up in Row E, seats 7 and 9. I took the seat by the wall but I got still picked to "participate" in the show. Closer and on the aisle is better, but I still got my fair share of interaction sitting by the way.

NotScott,
How did you get the seat by the wall? Seat 11 is on the wall. Was the theatre just not crowded for a Tuesday night? In any event you got great seats for being TDF!! Were you called up on stage or you "participated" from your seat?

I have a big question about this show. All the promo videos say you need to let the Manager know if you are claustrophobic. Any particular reason why? Is it just that it's a smaller theater and they shut the lights off? Or is it connected to the audience participation aspect?
It's the one thing holding me back from seeing the show. I'm not even taking the panic attack warning seriously because I live off of horror when I'm not wrapped up in a show, but the claustrophobia warning gives me pause.

trentsketch,
That's only because some parts take place in total darkness. Some claustrophobic people can feel closed in in total darkness.

Maryway44-
There were less than 60 people there on Tuesday night (but one of them was David Blaine). TDF gave me row E seats 5 and 7, but we were moved to 7 & 9 I think because of a broken seat. To give ourselves a little space, we moved to seats 9 and 11. I was brought up on stage to participate in the crowbar bit, if that makes sense.
Dave1606 - it is about advertised at 85 minutes long, but I think it went longer. They also held the house for awhile, but you'll be out before 10pm.

NotScott,
Could you please send me a PM on the crowbar bit. I still can't figure out how he did that.
By the way, we had a full house on Friday. I am disapointed to hear you only had 60 people when you went. I would not have liked that since you are almost certain to have your share of fun in the dark.

OK, I am NOT ready to go up on stage, especially for something involving a crowbar...
You're starting to scare me again
Dead serious -- can you not go up, even if you're picked or something?
