'1776': Historically accurate or are too many liberties taken?
As I recall when it first came out it was noted that there was a tremendous amount of research in the writing of the book and in the lyrics of the songs. I saw it right after it opened in standing room and I recall it was the 46TH Street theater. I saw I DO I DO there aa well. It ran as the show before 1776. Betty Buckleys break our performance. John Cullum after Clear Day.

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025

When I mentioned this to the person seated to my left, she explained that she had seen the original with Page and was not enjoying this version stating (slightly paraphrasing now) "This is not in my top 10. Not even top 50, Probably not top 100". We, ho...

It has potential for a cult following for sure, but I doubt (short of marketing the hell out of it) that they are going to fill up the Longacre.Honestly, if ART and this show switched, I feel like this would be better in the Music Box. (The Broadhurst is out of commission until Spring, to my understanding)"Since you have seen it what is the running time . I thought it was about 90min in London but it i...

SUNSET BLVD. Revival
Somewhere in the 1,641 posts there was a statement about how Joe Gillis, after he is shot and killed, leaves the stage. As I recall it was stated his exit was a bit significant. I saw this 3 times, and I did not see how this happened nor was I able to and figure this out. Now that it closed, I don't think the answer would be a spoiler. Thanks for any input !

I will never forget what it was like to watch Audra sing "Coming Up Roses" and "Rose's Turn" for the first time feeling great comfort that she did it - she found a way to make her soprano voice thrillingly navigate this score. She did not disappoint, and that is the most important thing. What I am saying 'good riddance' to - because this has be...

Bette Midler - Mame?
Jarethan said: "Bette is WAY TOO OLD to play Mame, especially given that it spans at least 15 - 20 years from young Patrick to married Patrick with an 8 year old son.I know it has issues, but the first time I saw Mame represents my absolute favorite theatergoing experience ever. I was 16, the show was in its third week, I always loved Auntie Mame, the cast was incredible, the music was joyful, the production was lavish, the choreography was spectacular. I cannot believe that it can't be tweak...
