It's probably underscore, trying to sound like Mad Men. That was their obvious aim in this production, what with setting it seven years earlier than Promises, which was a contemporarily set show (196.
I can't wait to receive my copy. Put my order in the day bk announced it. Set me back $23.73 but who cares? This will go down as THE DEFINITIVE release and a MUST HAVE in any serious Broadway Cast Album collectors library.

Well, that's 23.73 including postage :) We had much talk of charging 23.98 for the two CD set, but in the end, I opted to keep it at our usual one CD price for a limited edition.
What "minor cuts" are being restored?

What does that mean exactly. I don't think I ever used the words "minor cuts" did I?
I have no idea what he's talking about either.
Will this reissue be using the original Michael Bennett choreography for "Turkey Lurkey Time"?
It's on cast album collector.
"Limited edition of 1000 copies. First disc is the original LP mix. Second disc is newly mixed from the original 8-track tapes using pitch correction software, restores minor cuts, and places the songs in show order for the first time."

Oh! Okay. I know of one. Go to the Kritzerland site and listen to the sample of You'll Think of Someone. There's a minor cut that's restored. I won't tell you what it is though. You'll have to listen for yourself.

Oh, if that's what minor cuts means :) Yes, I love that bit and loved including it. The thing I was praying for was that they'd recorded the dance music for A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing - sometimes they did stuff like that and then made the cut after the fact. I went back to all the takes of that song but the cut was made prior to the recording.
And yes, we absolutely use the Michael Bennett choreography and you haven't lived until you've seen me, my engineer, and my mastering engineer do the Baayork, Donna, and Margo parts.
bk, was the extended dance break for TURKEY ever recorded or was that song already abridged before recording took place and recorded "as is".

All cuts to songs were made prior to the recording - I listened to all the takes of Turkey Lurkey, too.
Hidden tracks are da bawmb. Good show, bk! Your hidden tracks have always been a delight. Couldn't the London cast recording be one big hidden track? Or, perhaps, one Buckley track?
Ordered mine along with Show Girl. Been on a Channing kick. Ishn't that maarveloush?
This sounds really exciting.
I've been listening to some of Roz Russell's Gypsy vocals on YT and while she was clearly not a singer, her vocals are nevertheless more expressive than Lisa Kirk's imo. It would be wonderful if Russell's vocals could be pitch-corrected and restored to the Gypsy Movie soundtrack. I love Russell's non-singing performance and it's always such a letdown when she starts to sing in the film and it's not her voice singing.

If someone really wanted to take the time, it absolutely could be done - those bonus tracks are dry and ugly - it doesn't have to be that way - it's almost like they wanted her to sound bad on that CD. Add a little reverb, give the woman some space, and fix the occasional pitches, and it would be fine.

Just a head's up that astonishingly we're down to about two hundred and fifty copies now. When the 1000 are gone, that's it.
Woo-hoo! Great to hear that it is selling well. I can't wait to hear it!

Is this why I keep hearing Promises, Promises practically every hour on the hour on the radio broadcast?
Nope. You're hearing PROMISES, PROMISES every hour on the radio broadcast because it's promoting THE NEW BROADWAY CAST RECORDING starring Sean Hayes, Kritin Chenoweth, Tony Goldwyn, Dick Ltessa and Katie Finneran. This discussion is about the new 2 CD LIMITED EDITION RE-RELEASE OF THE 1968 ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING Starring Jerry Orbach, Jill O'Hara, Edward Winter, A Larry Haines and Marian Mercer.
The first post in made by bk to start the thread explains it all.
That's wonderful bk! Glad I didn't drag my feet and ordered quickly.
Can't wait to hear it, either!
Just placed an order! My first Promises, Promises recording, I'm so excited :)

If it's your first listen, might want to play CD 2 first :)
If I hadn't bought the original recording a few months ago I would be onto this new one like a rash. But I find the 'off' singing endearing.
One question: Does this new release still contain the 'fade out' at the end of the title track?
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/20/03
What you bought a few months ago is not, as I have repeatedly said, the original album mix which won the Grammy. This is the first release of the original album masters so you get both - pitchy singing and a newly-mixed CD with the pitches corrected. And yes, of course this release contains the fade-out - they recorded it that way, to fade out - the show ending wasn't recorded, they just stopped playing after a while. That was the case with A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing, too.

So, I don't have my copy of the OBCR here with me and I'm listening to "You’ll Think of Someone”... can someone tell me one of the little vocal things added? I'm not familiar enough with the original version to know off the top of my head, but I'm curious.
