did it really work... ever? I didn't enjoy first time round so it doesn't make me want to rush out and buy his album.

As in Elaine Paige.
Used to be a big fan of hers, still am I guess (as a singer/performer) but dear god her radio show is unlistenable and she sso annoying!

I thought it did when I first saw it, Devid Tennant was in the audience, so it was a funny moment of John singing to him. However, I had been drinking which may explain it.
And Elaine Paige irritates me on her radio show, she just talks and talks and talks about very little.

while I find the song harmless-if silly and self indulgent-and agree it was cute/funny in concert as a joke (wont surprise many I was there that night lol) what surprises me is Stephen Schwartz's response, either he's doing some serious sucking up or he's...well I don't know!

As for Elaine Paige being irritating, her laugh is the weirdest one I've ever heard (not even sure if it's natural or put-on). Last Sunday, when her guest was John Partridge, it was difficult to determine who was laughing when.
