Posted: 3/9/08 at 10:51pmim almost 100% positive it will be. I feel its one of those shows that needs to be recorded live on two disks, and be the complete show.... but thats just me

Oh god, this needs to be made as soon as possible!!!
There was quite a lot of music in the show, so a 2 disc cast recording sounds just right.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

I think the beauty of this score is how it's linked seamlessly with the book, and how musical themes are artfully woven into the subsequent scenes, such as "Arlington Hill," "Amsterdam",and "Keys".
I'm very curious, Mr. VNYCurious, who are these idiots who post on ATC, continually making overly nasty remarks re: PS? The word of mouth is excellent, how fast do these idiots think people buy tix? The show only had opening night less than 2 wks. ago. What a bunch of wannabees.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

What do you mean, "live"? You want it recorded in the theatre with audience noise and poor acoustics?
The performances on stage may appear very exciting but the performers have to project differently to make it effective for the ear alone. Also, except for special events/concerts I don't believe the unions allow the performances to be recorded live.
It is always better to record in a proper studio where the performances (and sound) can be enhanced to create the illusion of a live performance.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 3/10/08 at 4:09amThe posts at ATC are hilariously bitter. It is almost like they're jealous and would hate to see something non-traditional succeed. It's pathetic.

So I saw Passing Strange over the weekend and I loved it.
I found it refreshing and vibrant. I would love a live album to capture all that energy.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 8:55ami asked Stew about it and he mentioned the producers are wanting to wait until the show is more "locked" before they commit to a recording but it's already opened by now! they should get with it! i mentioned to him it needed to be live to capture the sound on stage.

For Jay and Joe- I will try to get more info on this matter of the CD, if I can pry open the "secrecy". Keep on spreading the word, because grosses were way up this past week, and audience members have been telling me all week that they're "coercing" all their friends and family to see it. Seriously, there are few and far between that DON't enjoy it immensely, and I'm THERE every night. ATC is pathetic!!
BTW, JayS, it's not THAT non-traditional, in that Stew has composed some gorgeous, MELODIC ballads, a couple of love songs, some hard rock, 2 clever "show tune" (parodies), a punk rock thing to illucidate an IDEA! And all tied together with a beginning, middle and end. The conflict is addressed in numerous and hilarious ways---don't want to ruin it for those who haven't been yet,,,,,

Saw the show last night.
My mind has been blown.
I mean, I went in knowing I was going to love it but I wasn't sure just HOW MUCH I would love it.
The answer:
a helluva lot.
I NEED A CD!!!!
I can't live with just four tracks!!!
