Which one will do better?

These two have to be the favorites for the Tony's. Any predictions?

How great is it to get two brand new musicals!

Original musicals, no less.

I'm crossing my fingers for them both.

"Winning a Tony this year is like winning Best Attendance in third grade: no one will care but the winner and their mom."
-Kad

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Good point, I stand corrected. Original musicals with original music and an original storyline (and all good too) was what I meant to say...

Both! They both sound very exciting, although I'm much more curious about Passing Strange.

Just imagine, if Next to Normal transfers, we may have three completely original Best Musical nominees.

I pray Passing Strange, but I'm alittle biased because i adore Rebecca Naomi Jones who is in the cast. :/

In the Heights

I don't really know much about either show. If you say which show you think will do better, could you give a reason? :)

Next to Normal? You think it could transfer that fast?

If the reviews are good it could conceivably transfer that fast. Rent (another Greif show) closed off-Broadway at the end of March in 1996 and started previews on Broadway in the middle of April. Spelling Bee (which was also at Second Stage January through March) also transferred to Broadway in mid-April.

In The Heights.

Although, I am intrigued by the Passing Strange music and storyline, having only heard some of it.

There's a Broadway Bullet podcast with 25 minutes of music from Passing Strange on it. Did anyone see Passing Strange at the Public Theatre? If so, how was it?

"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster. "Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."

It was quite interesting. The music is great, and it is HILARIOUS.

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
