Which one would you see? I'm leaning toward Passing Strange, but to be honest, I've heard raves, but no nothing about the show. What is it about?
Finally, I've never seen Xanadu the movie. Will that mean I'll be lost when I see the musical?
Oh no, Xanadu(the movie) is really terrible, don't waste your time, yet Im dying to see the musical, it does have great songs, and it looks like a very fun show, but don't watch the movie! It's bad.
Btw, "Passing Strange" extension dates ARE available on the "Public" website.... I think it was mentioned that they had extended, but the website didnt have the new dates yet.
Just purchased ticket for 6/26- Anytime I see a show mentioned in the same breath as "Hedwig", I MUST see it---
And if Lenny Kravitz was there.... gotta go !! :))

Keep in mind that Passing Strange probably won't be around as In the Heights long because In the Heights is planning to transfer to broadway. You can always see that one after it makes the move.

Honestly, stay home and read a good book. You won't be missing anything by passing up any of these shows and you might actually contribute something worthwhile to your life.

xanadu all the way. but i recommend seeing the film. you have to see it to appreciate its campy badness. the film is horrible. but that's the point. the musical makes fun of how bad it is depicting lines and pointing out scenes that made no sense. so MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!
Passing Strange is about a young black teen growing up in the 70s in a nice suburb of L.A., who, in an attempt to escape the mundane, pretentious suburban life and find his life in art travels to Amsterdam and moves on to Berlin and eventually makes his way back.
I feel like that doesn't do it justice at all, but just check it out, it's fresh and clever, if a bit flawed.
