Audra was the best, but she was too warm for Clara, IMO.

The semi-staged concert performance aired on Live from Lincoln Center and is NOT available for purchase.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

As for a Broadway revival, don't bet on it. It's not a show that appeals to a mass audience. Even in Washington's Sondheim Celebration it was the least sold of all 6 shows (although still sold out 80% of its seats over 15 performances.)
If it does get revived it would probably be a chamber opera staging. The NYCO might try but the 2700 state theatre would dwarf the show.
Did anyone see the Chicago staging with Adam Brazier last fall?

Ugh, I HATED Patti AND Michael in their roles. I think they did a horrible job, especially Patti.

If there's a Sondheim show with an original cast that is virtually impossible to beat, it is PASSION.

Now, has anybody heard of the London production recording? Or, the previous Lincoln Center production featuring Judy Kuhn and Rebecca Luker? Please share your reviews on those two productions especially Kuhn's version of Fosca.

The London recording is such a debacle. Maria Friedman gives what in my mind is one of the worst performances committed to a cast recording. Michael Ball does make for a neat Giorgio, but after listening to Shea and Ball multiple times, I am convinced that Shea has the edge. The girl who plays Clara--blanking out on her name--is no Mazzie or Audra.

I didn't care for Rebecca Luker; her vibrato was insane.

But Marin's portrayal is beautiful, mature, and in control.

I should also add that I dislike the new addition "I Love Fosca." I found it unnecessary and took away the gorgeous moment of revelation in "No One Has Ever Loved Me."
