A few weeks ago, I got 2 tickets at the TKTS booth. My friend couldn't go last minute, and I couldn't find anyone to take the 2nd ticket, so I still have an unscanned/unused ticket. Do you know if I could past date the ticket? Would I contact TKTS/TDF or the theatre directly? Thanks!

I've been able to past date TDF due to weather but I'm not sure about TKTS.

It would be up to the box office (TKTS just gets an allotment of tickets from the show, so this is one rare instance where you would not go through point of purchase. TKTS wouldn't have any seats to past date you into).
Is it a really popular show? Broadway or Off-Broadway? Broadway shows tend to be very strict with past dating policies. Depending on how the theatre inputs their TDF manifest from the booth, you may or may not be in their ticketing system. If TDF/TKTS patrons arent in the system they may not extend the past dating service to you. But you wont know until you ask! I would recommend trying for a Tuesday or Wednesday (in general, the days you find more available seats). And be SUPER nice to the box office staff. As someone with years of box office experience: we actually like helping nice people, especially when dealing with hordes of rude biddies all day =)

I was able to past-date a TDF ticket to Hand-To-God. They asked for a reason and we told them "we were sick" and that was that. Good luck! :)

TDF seems more likely, since you can buy those in advance, but not sure how something would come up that would prevent attendance for a day-of ticket. No harm in trying, though...

It totally depends on the show. But be advised, most shows that post date are very limited in what options you have, I regardless of the original ticket (seat and day of the week)

Without knowing the show, there can not even be a guess. If a show is papering, they will obviously be happy to have you; if it is sold out, they will obviously tell you to take a hike. In between, it can depend on the box office, the producer, the general manager or you.
You should have asked that day. and instead of asking here you should just go and ask now. It is less likely when you dawdle. (Unless they are papering.)
