re: Patrick Swayze in Chicago

He's certainly got the dancing chops and I think he's a very underrated actor. Let's hope he can sing. If he can he could be one of the better Billy Flynn's.

I'm so tempted to go, but I don't know if I'll have the money... I think he'll pull it off well. I'll want to giggle the whole time though, as he was such a big part of my childhood.

This is something that I've been aware of for some time now.

I think he is a very hot and sexy dancer. Too bad I wasted my dough on Melanie.

Thats a pretty short engagement- Wish I could see him, but unfortunately I've got no dough. I've seen Chicago about 4 years ago and would love to see it again- too bad.

How about Jerry Orbach as Amos Hart and Jennifer "New Nose" Gray to play Roxie? It can be Dirty Dancing on Broadway!

Today in school, this girl who knows nothing about Broadway, yet like Patrick said he was touring with Dirty Dancing! I told her, "No, that would be Chicago."

Bdw11~ Swayze is scheduled to join the tour in San Diego and LA from 12/30 to 1/18.
Gravitte( Momma) joins Bd'w run on Dec.15th for 4 mos.

Marroquin ( Roxie) plays Bd'w 12/15 to 12/29, then joins Swayze on tour in San Diego 12/30/ ....according to playbill.com

That's a lot of rotation!

I hope Swayze razzle dazzles 'em better than Gregory Harrison. Sorry I had to miss him.

Miss PB...

I take it you caught the tour in Philly :) (I attend school in the area, but anyhoo...)

After seeing Greg Harrison a second time as Billy, I was still not impressed. While he was adequate for the role, I thought he lacked any sort of charisma, icy nature, or comedy that I have seen in some favorite Billys of mine (i.e. Billy Zane, Brent Barrett, etc.)

Oh hell no, I'd much rather see Jerry Orbach reprise Billy Flynn...there's no age limit!!

Mr. Kev~ did indeed see the Philly run. Check out my review right here in the columns section. Harrison did nothing for me. His performance was "pedestrian" at best. Didn't see Brent Barrett either, though I think he'd be much better.

I don't know, the Billy Flynn role seems upstaged by the 2 girls. Flynn's got to turn on the charm or the sleeze pretty quickly amid all the hot moves anyway. Bianca& Brenda were tops, weren't they?

re: re: Patrick Swayze in Chicago

Well he COULD dance but I know for a fact his L knee is totally f*cked up. Don't know for sure re his R. Billy is not a really demanding dance role & Swayze should be able to handle it without too much difficulty and he can sing & act so No Worries!

re: Patrick Swayze in Chicago

Considering his dance experience and choreographer mother as well as his previous Broadway roots in the original run of Grease, I think he would probably be a very good choice.

But nobody could top James Naughton. He was simply amazing.
