Patrick's Mom and other Newsies questions

I just got the cd today for the cast recording and I must say it was incredible! But very different from the movie. How many changes did they make to the show from the moive? And why in the world did they cut Patrick's Mom? That was my favorite moment, vocally. Also, why is there a female reporter and not a male? Can someone please answer in great detail?

As much as Patrick's Mom is great in the movie, what they changed it to works better for the stage. There's a female reporter because the plot is different. Sarah and Denton are basically combined to be one character (with a few new things of course!) The show has many more differences from the movie but all for the better. It allows the movie and the show to be two separate entities. I love them both! :)

for the better? Let's agree to disagree. They pretty much got rid of an entire theme.

Okay that video was hilarious!!!! But still doesn't help me with how the plot is different...
