I saw The Light in the Piazza yesterday! I loved it.
Victoria Clark wasn't there. I was upset at first but once the show began I forgot all about her. Her understdy, Patti Cohenour was really good though. She said it was only her second time in the show and she was really nervous. So I definitely give her credit. I loved loved loved Kelli O'Hara. I had seen her in Dracula last year around the same time(She was probably my favorite part of that show). She played the part so well and I love her voice. Matthew Morrison was great. He can sing to me in Italian(however bad it may be) anyday.
The costumes were gorgeous and I liked how the set flowed so well. I like the seating in the Vivian Beaumont Theater as well because I didn't have a big bald head in front of me blocking my view.
I think the audience was one of the best behaved audiences I've ever seen. Of course that may be because it was mainly older people. My friends and I were definitley the youngest people there. It's not like CHitty where probably more than half the audience is under the age of 7. It was nice.
All in all I loved the show and I just wrote a really bad review of it. I just rambled on and on. Oh well.
The picture is all of us with Patti.
So glad you liked Patti as Margaret. She is a wonderful actress and I hope she gets great roles in the future.
Yayyy! I'm glad you enjoyed the show and Patti Cohenour's interpretation of Margaret. I've read a few reviews of her performance, and they've all been glowing. Makes me wish I could see her, but unless I get tickets on Sunday, I'll probably miss her in the role. Eh, I love her as Signora Naccarelli anyway!
I love Patti! She's fabulous. I hope I can catch the show this weekend, she's Margaret until Sunday.

it makes me happy that she's great in the role!
Love her. I can remember insisting that my parents get tickets for a Thursday eve. performance of "Phantom" back when it first opened so I could see her instead of Sarah Brightman back in '88. Extremely talented woman.
Did you think Matthew's Italian was bad? My sister-in-law saw the show with her cousins who were visting from Italy and she said the Italian was very good.

I thought it was good also... but I don't know much about Italian, more about Latin.
Anyway, thanks for your review on Patti. I LOVED her as Signora Nacarelli, I think she is a very powerful singer. I hope that people realize that not all understudies are bad... I know people ranted a lot about Sara Ramirez's understudy... but I loved Signor Nacarelli's understudy Joseph, probably more than Mark [I saw them both and was able to compare].

Wendy, I think that was a reference to Matt's CHARACTER speaking broken English. I'm Italian and he spoke the Itialian dialogue beautifully. You want bad Italian? Try listening to Josh Groban sing.

I've heard that Josh Groban is really bad Italian, and I actually never realized that till pretty recently.
I don't understand what shlam was trying to say about Matty... but thanks for clearing it up about Matt's Italian diction, dolly [at least for me].

I love Patti Cohenour...Would love to see her in the role, although I loved Victoria Clark. Patti has one of the prettiest CD's out TO AN ISLE IN THE WATER which is her singing the words of William Butler Yeats...If you ever see if, pick it up, you won't be disappointed.
I love Patti, too! Especially when she's belting.
Seriously, I haven't seen her go on as Margaret but I have a mini obsession with her b/c of "aiutami". It'd be really great to catch her go on for Victoria at least once.
