10) Patti LuPone, 59, theater actress. She is Broadway. Sorry, Nathan Lane, this diva is the one you want opening your show - most recently the raved-about, Tony-nominated "Gypsy," which sold out its run.

Get it, girl.
YEEHAW!
In what universe did Gypsy sell out its run?
Sorry, I thought this meant most powerful as in volume. As in foghorn.
In what universe did Gypsy sell out its run?
It's the Post. They're allowed to fudge the facts in order to make a point.
Exactly, Foster.
Well, She did sell out last years engagement of gypsy at Encores right, maybe thats what they meant.
^ Both times I went there were a lot of empty seats in the gallery. How is that selling out?
I am sorry, I miss heard then, no need to attack me. Also this thread is turning into a bashing of Ms. Lupone
what thread doesn't?
but good for Patti! and #10 is pretty high considering who else is on the list.
I worry some crazy fan may murder powerful women 1-9.
They're talking about the Encores run.
If they're referring to the Encores run, then The Post is reverting to their usual stance on facts. When I saw Gypsy last summer, I doubt there were more than 50 people total in the entire gallery.
I wasn't attacking, just asking how something is a sell-out when most of the gallery was empty. No attack.
It could very well have sold out with Encores large subscriber base with a fair amount of no-shows.

the quote appears to refer to a "tony-nominated" run being sold out ... that would make it *not* encores, correct?
on the other hand, foster has a point: if the president of the united states can bend the truth to make a fake point, why the F can't the new york post do it to make a real one?!?
I agree with you whatever
What number is Bernadette?
She didn't make the list, but (uuuggghhh) Rachael Ray did?????
Good for Patti

Well #10 isn't so bad. But I hear she's going to be #1 in the upcoming "Most overrated" list.

Saw "Gypsy" Friday night and while I liked it a lot, Miss Patti is one of those performers who constantly teeters on the border of genius and outright ham. She's a real force of nature, but I was just as impressed by Boyd and Laura as I was by her.
