Someone mentioned that Patti LaBelle participated in a reading of HEAD OVER HEELS as the Oracle, Pythio.
Do you think she’d do the part on Broadway?
EDIT: Patti LaBelle, NOT LuPone.

I wouldn't bet on it. She also shouldn't, as non-binary and trans characters should not be played by cisgender actors. :)

im honestly not trying to stir the pot, but i've always wondered: if you feel that way about trans not being played by cis actors... does that mean that trans actors shouldn't play the role, if its written as a cis character?

Glad you asked! I think trans actors should absolutely play cis characters. I’ll use Roger in Rent as an example. Roger is a man, but so is a trans man. Trans men are men, and trans women are women, so why can’t a trans man play Roger? Does it really matter if Roger was assigned male at birth? Even so, I don’t see that as an issue, but I’ll stick to the 101 version of this conversation.
I compare it to race. You wouldn’t have a white actress play Nabulungi in Book of Mormon because that’s blackface, but Nikki M. James played Eponine in Les Mis, which is traditionally played by a white actress. It’s kind of like affirmative action casting.
Well, she could make it a (moderate) success for two months... but why would she do it? She’s about to play one of the great roles of musical theatre in a high-profile reimagining of a fantastic musical. By the time that revival closes in London, the mess that is HOH will be long dead.

I think there's a higher likelihood of Patti LuPone playing the Jessica Chastain character in your other Inspired thread, Zero Dark Thirty, The Musical.

Excuse my illiteracy.
The person in the original post should be Patti LaBelle, NOT LuPone.
Do we think she will play the Oracle, Pythio?
