Feel better, Patti! Break a leg, Linda!!!
OOOOO, it's her first show, right?
Yes, although she's been rehearsing for months. Exciting!
Is Patti going on tonight?
Just to ask, to save making a new thread, does Patti have any scheduled holidays? Cheers!
and how about sunday's matinee as well? looks like i'll be seeing that poppins woman tomorrow.

Damnit. Of course the day I leave New York for the holiday week!!!
Poor Patti! She must be so sick to miss a performance.

And I almost went and got a rush ticket right when I walked past the theater 20 minutes ago! I would love to see how she does. Too cold for me to go back there now, plus too much work to do.
Oh, boy. And tomorrow afternoon I'm seeing the show with a very dedicated LuPone fan who's not gonna be too happy if Patti's not there...
This is exciting! Break a leg, Linda!
Anyone going?! I wish I was....be sure to report back!
Just ran down and got my rush ticket. I passed by the theater earlier to do the Heights lottery at 11:45 or so and no signs were up yet so she must've just called out. People in the lobby were pretty upset, I, having seen it 7x with Patti, am excited :)
I hope someone who goes gives us a review. Id be very intrested to hear about it though feel bad for those missing patti. Dont get me wrong, I understand that an understudy is no better or worse than the actual scheduled performer in any role but Patti Lupone gives such a definitive performance and her name is praciticly the title on the marquee so I can understand people being upset. All the same I wish linda the best of luck and am anxious to hear thoughts.

I have no doubt Linda will do a great job. She's wonderful!
I just returned from the show...other understudies on were for Tulsa and Agnes
-Linda's "For Me's" were chilling!
-During "If Momma Was Married", when the girls are mimicking Momma, Laura's "smile baby!" was altered to sound exactly like Linda instead of Patti, and Leigh Ann could hardly contain herself - the rest of the song was Leigh Ann trying not to break character - it didnt affect her singing but you could see it in her face. Priceless.
Sadly, a lot of Rose's one-liners that Patti delivers so well and that the audience always eats up and laughs - fell flat when Linda delivered them. She didnt get any laughs for most of them and the few that she did the response was pretty tepid. Otherwise, she was great. The chemistry was definitely there between her and Boyd, I liked her more in the dramatic scenes - when Boyd walks out, the final confrontation with her and Louise far better than her nondramatic scenes - she shined a lot more and made more of an impression.
No standing ovation after Rose's Turn, but the minute she walked out for the curtain call the audience jumped to their feet (and no they werent already on their feet for Laura & Boyd). At curtain call, the entire cast took a step back at the very end and gave her a special applause and she was extremely gracious, kept mouthing "thank you" and more than anything looked relieved. :)

Any idea if she'll be on tomm? I'd gladly get up early to see her in the show. I've seen Patti twice, so I welcome seeing a new take on the role.
Thanks for the great review, dshnookie.

I saw it last night and Pattie was struggling a good bit. Her finale note wasn't as powerful, but she def. wasn't half assing it. She was a true star, but her and Laura both kept blowing their noses or wiping tears away cause of allergies/colds.

Ah I wish I hadn't had to work and had seen this earlier. I would kill to go see her. And I can't go tonight either, if she's even on again. Darn.
Linda's on again tonight.
So I guess Patti Lupone will be out again tonight...maybe it's better because I don't think she could afford to miss out next weeek. She'll probably rest up - might as well assume she'll be out for Sunday's performance as well.
I wonder if people wanted to exchange/honor their tickets b/c Patti is out?
Any definite word that she'll be out tomorrow?

I think I might try and go see it tomm. It might be interesting to see another take on the role.

I was there back in May when Patti was sick and missed a Sunday performance and people in the line were livid. A couple of my friends stayed to see Lenora Nemetz go on for Patti and they said the show started late because so many people demanded a refund. I can't imagine today's any different.

Yeah, I'm wondering how full the theater was with Patti not there.
I'm so happy for Linda though!
