Hmmm... this is somewhat peculiar news as the Faye Dunaway directed film adapation of the play is currently in post-production.

How on EARTH would you even consider that as Faye stealing Patti's glory?

Faye starred in EVA PERON a 1981 NBC TV mini-series that had NOTHING to do with the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical EVITA. Patti was starring on Broadway at that same time in the musical EVITA and had already won a Tony Award for her performance.

If anything... EVITA and Patti LuPone's star turn in this is still talked about today. Most people never even heard of that 1981 NBC TV mini-series and most who actually saw it don't even remember seeing it.

Master Class was a 9 part Documentary done about a year ago for HBO where high school students in the arts get to work with their mentors.. Perhaps this is what the original post was referring to.

I agree with Londonskyguy that it's probably part of the documentary about actual master classes. That kid looks awfully young to be in a production of Master Class.

The kid's punctuation and capitalization are atrocious. I think he meant he was going to be featured in "a" master class given by Patti LuPone.

Brody... I actually remember that 1981 "Evita" miniseries with Faye Dunaway. As a matter of fact, Rita Moreno played a role in it as well.... a sort of Libertad Lamarque character (famed Argentinian actress who ran afoul of the real Eva Peron and eventually had to go to Mexico to find work.) Anyway, it was kind of a cheesy film. I think I remember seeing somewhere that Gary Coleman's production company (yes, THAT Gary Coleman)was involved with the filming. With regards to Faye doing that film, it remains dubious as to when the film might be finished and released. Apparently, Miss Dunaway cannot be rushed by these things. from RC in Austin, Texas

Bumping this old thread because there's finally an air date for this. April 1st on HBO and then airings almost every day for the rest of April on various HBO channels.

I remember the 1981 Evita miniseries with Miss Dunaway. Her nemesis in the film was none other than Rita Moreno (who sort of played the Libertad Lamarque real life part). James Farentino I believe played Juan Peron. And get this... this film was produced by a company run by......Gary Coleman. Seriously....from RC in Austin, Texas (New York City visit: June 7-10).
