re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

I saw that posted on her website a while back. I thought it was strange she's playing there, but it'll be great! I got my ticket a couple weeks ago(Row E).
Apparently the owner of the Reagle Players is very excited to get such a big name.

They have a long history of big names mixed in all the time.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

Patti is a big name, yes. Reagle Players have had several other mayor players in the past. Shirley Jones performed in CAROUSEL a few seasons ago, and Tommy Tune, Robert Goulet, Ann-Margret and several other have performed concerts in Waltham. I saw a terrific production of MILLIE at Reagle last summer starring the girl who plays Bianca on ALL MY CHILDREN.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

I knew the did have stars that came and did shows there, but I guess, since growing up in MA, I never thought/imagined name people would come up to boring Waltham, MA...lol

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

God damn! My drama club's play is on both of those days! I cannot believe Patti's playing in my own backyard and I can't go to it! re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players The Reagle Players' manager must have connections to get such a big name.

bumpity bump

I've never had a need to go to Waltham....until now. There are only driving directions to the theatre. Anyone have advice for getting there by public transportation. Bus or commuter rail? Thanks.

And yay Patti!

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

The commuter rail is a couple of miles away. There are buses, but I'm not really sure where they come from. The theater itself isn't really near anything, so even if there are buses, I doubt they are frequent.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

From what I can gather from my little bus schedule, the 70A bus seems to go to Waltham and stops on Lexington St. (where the theatre is located).

Looks like I'm going to have to do a little test run this weekend.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

I just got home from the concert! re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players
It was phenomenal- truly wonderful. There were some mic problems during So in Love, but the climax was still breathtaking. Everything was great, even her bipolar 'I Wanna Be Around'. Patti even did a little a capella, sans-mic encore (didn't recognize the song).

It seemed that the crowd consisted mostly of middle-aged women with their elderly mothers. They were gushing after the show. Everyone there loved it.

I'm too tired to write a real review. re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

More reviews please!

This Patti fan got royally screwed by the MBTA. I had tickets for tonight, and I waited 45 minutes for the damn bus that never came. I need to live vicariously through you all.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

It was incredible. I got a group discount that was further subsidized by my school...$15 tickets for row N. It was absolutely incredible. Patti shows such spirit and personality when performing.

The one thing that I noticed was that Patti enunciates much better when singing with an accent. It was true in Sweeney and also tonight when she sang a song with a French accent (I think the song name is Regret).
Whatever happened to class?

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

^ I noticed the same thing about the accent. That song was hilarious.

crzy- That really sucks. re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

On the bright side, I've got some pictures from the performance. I know the photographer for the show, so they were taken legally. I'm waiting until tomorrow to post them. There are a couple reasons behind that, but I won't go into it.
Someone bump this tomorrow to remind me. re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

I've spent a lot of time at Reagle, thankfully provided with a car, cause Waltham isn't the easiest place to get around without one. There are buses, but I don't know how frequently they run. The closest landmark to the theatre is the always-useful CVS/Staples shopping center on the corner of Lexington and Lake St. I think there's a bus shelter across the street.

The nearest subway stations are Alewife (on the red line) and Riverside (the end of the green line D train, I think), which are each like a 15 minute drive by car. Rte. 128 is the Amtrak station, which is a little farther (I have to be honest I don't really know where it is, because I've always been driven there and picked up by someone from the theatre). I only know where the subway stations are because I've occasionally had to pick up arriving actors. Nobody is ever expected to find their own way from the train stations, which leads me to believe it's not easy.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

Was I the only one that thought Patti was drunk off her ass?

And we totally get to witness a real live diva break down, when the mic didn't work! "Could you hear me during that last song? I could hear me, but could YOU hear me??"

Nice.

re: Patti Lupone at Reagle Players

A great night all around...in great voice..and magnetic stage presence.
PS: Asking "Could you hear me during that last song? I could hear me, but could YOU hear me??" is so NOT a diva break down..just wishful thinking!
PPS: No not drunk..and be careful of starting rumors...

It seems that there were more BWWers there than I thought.
