Though I'm not a Mandy fan, it sounds like a concert I would love.

Though I hear Patti is totally devoid of any talent whatsoever, washed up, and completely unprofessional. EVERYBODY knows that.

nealb1 - How was her dictation?

Patti's diction was fine. I could hear her just fine. My friend and I were in the 4th row, and perhaps her mic wasn't working during parts of the show, as the sound was coming from her mouth, vs. the overhead speakers throughout the theatre.

"I'm Not Getting Married Today" is just a hard song for anyone to get through. Patti did great, but if you didn't know the lyrics, it could have been a little hard for the average person to follow.

Oh, I could care less about her diction. I really need to know if her dictation had improved. Was she able to notate melodies accurately on staff paper?

Mister Matt, I hear someone was in the third row doing steno and Patti tore them a new one.

I was there, too (tenth row) and Patti's diction seemed fine to me, even in Not Getting Married. However she did do it quite slowly, so that may be the reason. Also, I knew the lyrics to nearly every song they did, so it may be that I heard everything clearly because I knew what they were singing.

One other thing I noticed, Patti came to the edge of the stage several times and seemed to be pointedly scanning the audience. I don't know if that was part of the choreography or not, but it seemed rather pointed to me.

I too attended last night (sat a few rows behind Diane Keaton). I thought Patti and Mandy were great together! I did notice something off about the sound at times.

Very happy Variety gave this a positive review. This is pretty much the same set list they premiered at the Prince in Philly.

A few of my top favorite duet concerts: Barbara Cook/Audra McDonald, composers Maltby/Shire mini concert in Nyack and Patti & Mandy. Surprisingly wonderful!

Neal, glad you enjoyed this too!

Regarding the "friends who took pictures during the curtain calls"....my understanding is that Patti Lupone prevented them from leaving the theater and had them subjected to listening to her rendition of "Everything's Coming Up Roses" without the aid of a lyric sheet for 24 hours. I'd rather be called on the carpet during the performance.

Did anyone who see the show like Mandy but HATE his "Mandy sings Sondheim" CD?

I hope I won't get a live performance of this when I see it next month..
