Was anyone around these parts able to catch Paul Stanley during his stint in the Toronto production of PHANTOM? I'm curious to hear any stories, memories, insider anecdotes, etc. that you may have.
Thanks in advance for sharing!
some liked him, but vically it was awfull, the y-tube is full of clips
I think I saw him in it...but have no recollection of his performance. So I'm really no help

Awful awful awful, and it made me sad because Toronto had a history of fantastic actors in the leading roles of that show. In fact, I think Lord Andrew once said it was his favorite production of the piece.
Best leads ever, IMHO, Petter Kerrie and Elizabeth Degrazia. Magic.

He wasn't bad, he wasn't great. He did a better job vocally than Gerard Butler did.
Well that's not much of an accomplishment.

Haha, yeah that was kinda my point. There have been several better Phantoms, but there have worse too.
Have there been other "big names" from beyond B'way circles who have played the Phantom role? I can't think of any, besides Michael Crawford, Robert Guillame, and some of the big B'way names... Anybody know of any?
Nope. They generally know better.
Well, Paul Stanley was the last in a line of celebs for the Toronto production; I seem to recall two Canadian entertainers being cast before him?
