re: Tiny update about the aerial stunts in The Pirate Queen

Popular - thanks for clearing the article up. At first I was wondering why the pirates would be flying in the first place. But it makes more sense now. I figured that they would probably be swinging and falling rather than actually flying. Wow, I can't wait to see how the fighting scenes are staged!

Paul's website is GREAT - don't you think? re: Tiny update about the aerial stunts in The Pirate Queen
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

To Tag: Yes, I agree that it sounds like Paul Rubin is saying, "Hey, I wasn't involved in Steph's accident!" I do NOT, however, think he is saying "Hey, if I'd been there I could have prevented it!" I think he's simply pointing out that he WASN'T there, before people start a) blaming him or b) asking him what happened. That's it. It was a technical glitch; so far as we know, human error wasn't even involved (I don't think he was blaming anyone, either, and so far as I know Steph has never, ever pointed fingers, either, just said that it was an incident that brought the cast and crew together as they tried to help her because, hey, she's just awesome like that. re: Tiny update about the aerial stunts in The Pirate Queen).
