Paying to See Shows

It is an expensive habit....so is flying from Miami to New York four times a year to see shows....but its WORTH IT!!!!
Of course I would never pay $100 to see anything....it eventually gets to TKTS......and I very rarely go to see any of the vomit that Hollywood spews..remember there are folks that pay nearly $25 for tickets, popocorn and candy to see the latest Brad Pitt - Julia Roberts - Russell Crowe nonsense for the umpteenth time.....or those who pay lots over and over to learn the "truth" from Michael Moore or Mel Gibson.........then there's television...As for seeing shows multiple times..I've taken my high school and junior high school students to New York and London since 1980...and seen many shows over and over for free.... "Les Miz" 11 times..It was a price to pay in a different way.

I would not pay $100 to see puppets because I know it does not cost that much to run that show. What a scam!

I pay usually full price for my tickets also. If it is a second or third time, I will try to get discount prices. My friends mail me discount codes a lot. Some of them pay full price like me, others do not. It all depends. I see Broadway as a wonderful escape. I really enjoy it and will scrape together the money if I have to. We all enjoy different things and have different views on spending money. If I can't do everything, I will choose a Broadway show to see.

I see Broadway & Off-Broadway & I do have memberships to several places, which cuts down the price, but if there is something I am CRAZY about I have no problem paying over & over to see it.

Life is Short, Enjoy It

AS the line goes in "SLY FOX"..."...you can't take it with you...unless you send it ahead"....well...I'm not planning on sending it ahead, so I should just spend it now

The Theater is an Investment in Yourself

There is always the TKTS & other Discount things as well...but hell, if its something I HAVE TO HAVE ... Full Price then it is

Please remember that TWHM opened in 1964. The top ticket prices were $9.90. I still have the ticket stubs to prove it.

As a teacher I can get tix through TDF for many shows. For most others I can get more modest discounts through websites. As someone else said it's my fun spending. A few times a month my friends and I have a decent lunch and a discounted show.

may I ask what TWHM is? I checked google and ibdb.com and couldn't find anything. Just curious :)

Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05

I have a question about ordering tickets through TDF online. I am a member but have never used it. What is the seat location ususally? Some say Rear Mezz. Are they usually the worst seats because they're so cheap?

When HELLO, DOLLY! originally played in New York, it was touted (by David Merrick) as "New York's Happiest Musical". When touring productions began playing ll over the world--including Vietnam, he changed the slogan to "The World's Happiest Musical".

ponine - student rush is $25 tkts at certain shows for any student, high school or college. My son's high school class went to see P-Diddy (Sean Combs) in A Raisen in the son like that.

The only show I've seen close to that many times is "Phantom" and it took 15 years to get there. Spread out over that much time it didn't seem like so much $$$.

I have to agree- Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway productions can be lots of fun. And if I weren't a coward with all the sense of direction of a blind monkey with a concussion, I'd go more often. As it is, I find it much easier to make my way around the Broadway theater district and use beautiful beautiful student rush policies to their full advantage. :)

I've only seen a few shows more than 10 times, those being Les Miserables and Avenue Q, but I've seen a number of shows in the 4 to 9 times range. I am in a family of people who firmly support theater and so they always ask me if I want to see this or that or take so and so to see something when they're in town. If I like a show of course I'm going to see it fairly often. As long as I can do it, why should I stop?

And hang on, when did you win the discus?
