Posted: 7/17/04 at 10:42pmThe problem that i have for TKTS is that they give you the orchestra seats (so normally $50). So somethimes it's cheaper to go for the cheapest seat in the house in advance sales. Unless you're a person who can only sit in the orchestra. That's how i see it.

i like to invite family members to come to nyc to visit as often as possible, then they usually buy tickets to see a show and bring me along!
another idea - for christmas my boyfriend got me a subscription to theatremania.com - they give out great discounts but also have a gold club that offers a lot of free tickets. there are a ton of off and off off broadway shows, but i've actully gone to see some broadway shows with them for free. one free show pretty much makes up for the cost of a yearly membership!

I do all of the things mentioned. Discounts from playbill.com. I'm a teacher, so there's always discounts floating around our school. Whenever family members come to NY, we see a show. I play up the grad school student loan thing, so they pay for tickets.
Also, I might get arrested for this but, occasionally I will second act a show.......especially a matinee if I have a free afternoon.
I guess I have no life if I expunge this much energy on theater....

A good site for Broadway discounts is http://www.broadwaybox.com because you usually get all the shows at once...some sites list codes for a select few shows. You also have the option to get notified when a code for a certain show comes out.
