Knew it. Ripley is probably on vocal rest, my guess. Anyone going tonight, please review and get some sound, please.

Can Someone post a review here, I'm very curious.

Hunton must have removed the tweet. It was no longer up when I went to check it out a few minutes ago.
I know, right?

Hey, that's my Twitter! :)
So, she was pretty good. Her voice fit the role really well, and her belting was incredible. Not as crazy as Alice in the role (who IS?), and it seemed like at times she had a difficult time finding the character, but she got there eventually. The timing on some of the humorous, sarcastic lines went a little flat. She messed up the few couple lines of "The Break" and mumbled a bit...I feel like some of the song was skipped, too. Otherwise, she really did an awesome job.
I was mainly sad because this was my mom's Christmas present and I was dying for her to see Alice...and we drove a couple hours through the snow.
If I would have seen this before the show, I would have tried for some audio!

I saw Pearl as Diana this past Friday. Here are my thoughts on her performance:
First, let me talk about my experience seeing Alice. I saw Alice as Diana about a week before I saw Pearl. While I think Alice Ripley is very talented, I was extremely underwhelmed with her vocals. My mother (who is unfamiliar with the music) couldn't understand a word she sang. She was also constantly flat. But still...It's frickin Alice Ripley! The reason I saw the show again is because I was hoping Alice would come out of the stage door. I was a bit sad when I saw the insert in my Playbill announcing that her standby would be going on.
Every ounce of dissapointment quickly faded after the show began. Pearl's voice was amazing. I could understand every word and she seemed to belt out every song with no problem. I enjoyed her acting very much. No. She isn't Alice Ripley. Only Alice is Alice. I found Pearl's portrayal to be less batsh*t than Alice. Her Diana seemed more human, which made her more relatable. I found myself being choked up much more than I had been with Alice's performance. My only issue with Pearl as Diana is the fact that on stage, she reads quite young. At times she looked as if she could be Natalie's older sister, as opposed to her mother.
Overall, I loved Pearl as Diana! I prefer her performance over Alice's.
Dan was also played by an understudy. But I won't go into details about him since this thread is about Pearl.

I saw the show last night and rushed with some guys who had seen Pearl on Friday. They LOVED her. I really wanted to see Pearl out of curiosity, but didn't. Oh well!
(Oh, Jason Watson was on as Dan for yesterday's matinee.)
