Posted: 4/5/08 at 11:06amIt might go to the City Center or another theater for a limited engagement like the Grinch. I believe Wintuk returns to the theater at Madison Square Garden.

Posted: 4/5/08 at 11:08amEh. I so dislike seasonal limited runs in Broadway houses.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

I guess WHITE CHRISTMAS wont have Brian D'Arcy by then...
I am glad you guys will have to see this production in NYC. It played in Boston for two Christmas Seasons. Randy Skinner's chreography is worth the price of admission by itself, but that's just about it! Dottie D' Luscia even came to Boston last Christmas just to see this!

I support this for one reason- Jeffry Denman. This guy needs a starring role on the rialto.
Unfortunately, it seems that Brian d'Arcy James won't be joining him.

They say at ATC that WHITE CHRISTMAS might start in OCTOBER at the Marquis...
So CRY-BABY will play till September or October?
I kinda feel sorry for CRY-BABY...Marquis had already a new tenant... Its like ...one of those old the Western Movies ..when a cowboy gets into a gun-duel match..there's a mortician that's already measuring the cowboy's dimension for his coffin...lol...
Cry-Baby has not even open yet!!!!

Would WC be a seasonal run or open ended? I cannot see it playing during the summer months.
I also fear it might have the same fate as most movie musical to stage adaptations. They do not have a good track record:
Singing In The Rain
Gigi
Meet Me In St Louis

The Theater of Stars production played here last Christmas and was a wonderful show. It was not the D'Arcy James - Jeff Denman version but has terrific choeography and direction by Jeff Calhoon. I'm not sure how it will be received my NYC audiences and critics, but was a sell out here in out 3000 seat theater. A fun show with great Irving Berlin music.
It is NOT a carbon copy of the film but has some great plot changes.

WHITE CHRISTMAS is a seasonal show. Ive seen it here in Boston and its a cute "family" show! The dancing are really really good. It played here in Boston for two Holiday season for nearly a SOLD OUT run at Wang Center, considering the theater is 3,000 seats.

Posted: 4/5/08 at 1:30pmHmm, interesting. I wouldn't call it a great movie musical, though my best friend adores it, but it's kind of fun. Although a lot of the fun comes from Danny Kaye, so I hope they have someone really good in that part. (As for plot changes, I can't help but think that a few plot changes would be a plus in this case!)

The Wang is indeed huge
Upstairs they have mirrors on each side but unfortunately, to save money on maintenence, they are painted over. The lobby was featured in The Witches Of Eastwick
The cast album is indeed very good. This would be great to see around Christmas time.

If you like Irving Berlin's Music - you will enjoy the show... though the book kinda sucks!... they just put all those great Irving Berlin songs into the musical which was taken from the movie version- actually added more songs- but I love LET YOURSELF GO, BLUE SKIES & I LOVE THE PIANO numbers!
BTW- I am talking about the Randy Skinner version that played in Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco that will be the one that's gonna be on Broadway, if this all gets ironed out!
Here's the Cast Recording at Amazon... on sale now for $8.98

Posted: 4/5/08 at 1:49pmThis is kind of like Young Frankenstein overtaking The Pirate Queen, except Mel Brooks was rude about it. Also, call me immature but Roxy you made my day with "The Wang is indeed huge " :P

So CRY-BABY will play till September or October?
I doubt that the producers would keep it open and put thousands into it just for fun and knowing they won't get any of it back. If anything, the theater would be dark until Fall.

The cast recording is SO great. I admit I wish Brian AND Jeffrey would/could do it. But I mean, it's just a rumor for now...I just have an attachment to the guys.
Who would play you in the movie? "Taye Diggs." --Brian d'Arcy James
