Just curious how the show is...my wife and I are coming to NY at the end of July and it's been a long time since we've seen a show. Sort of out of the loop. How's "Peter"? And other recommendations?

Saw it downtown before its Broadway run and I enjoyed it immensely. And, now its currently readying a 18 March opening, again Off-Broadway, at the New World Stages. Stay tuned and I'm sure poster will comment on the move to the smaller house.

But of course it will have reopened since you will be coming after March.
I adored it through and through. Everyone I "sent" to see it adored it. It speaks to the child in us all.
That being said, the show had many detractors as well -- so be prepared to also hear the other side of the coin.
As for "other suggestions" that's tougher since we don't know what you like/dislike.
Some other shows I'd suggest to most:
Pippin
Once
Matilda

I really loved this show! Although I'm not sure how it'll be without Adam Chandler Bryant as The Boy. He was in it both times I saw it and he just made the character the most adorable character on Broadway! I just wanted to hug him! The second time I saw also wasn't as good without Christian Borle and Celia Keenan Bolger, they were both amazing! But still definitely worth seeing if you can!

STARCATCHER is awful--poop jokes for the kids, lame anachronisms for the adults. It's hard to say what will be good by July (everything I've seen will be closed by then), but I'm pretty excited for THE NANCE.

Terrific show! Witty and smart writing, lovely and imaginative staging and terrific sound and light design. :)
I really enjoyed seeing it on Broadway last summer. This summer, I'm bringing a guest to see it off-Broadway. Very creative and well thought out. I highly recommend it!
I have not seen it, but I bought a copy of the play when they released it. I could barely get through the first act... Maybe it's just one of those shows you need to experience live.
Bwayphreak, I would say that the humor in this show is in how it's presented, I don't imagine it would read well. The creativity in the way the show is staged and the way props are utilized really adds to the comedy of the show. It's definitely one to be seen live.
