I just called PBS, the problem is there is No camera lens large enough to capture Ego.
This is not a PBS type production.

I hear they are interested in filming it for a new series "Vastly overrated, scenery-chewing Performances."

Has an internet petition--for anything non-web related--ever actually worked?

At least wickedfan is trying to do something to preserve a great work of art. You all should not be so negative against a person who has done something positive. I have gladly signed the petition. Curtain you are just jealous because you know you could never be a good enough performer for any one to ever want to film you!

In addition to signing the petition some of you may want to contact PBS. Here is the link to email PBS directly about Great performances. I know this has already been posted, but this is for those of you who may not have seen it. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/feedback/feedback.html

Online petitions don't work. People aren't signing it because they don't agree with it. They aren't signing it because they don't to squat.

If they were printed on paper I would say that they aren't worth the paper they are printed on. But, that isn't the case so I can't say that.

If he wants to do something to preserve the show, maybe he should put up the couple million dollars the producers don't have in order to do it. A petition isn't going to get this filmed, but money sure will.

Online petitions don't work.

Really? I've never thought of that. But thanks for enlightening me.

I'm sure that PBS is aware of Patti's performance, how good it is, how much people love it, etc. There's a reason that it isn't been filmed, and I doubt a petition will change that.

Find the money and it will be filmed. PBS does not know or respond to ratings, even though it is supposed to be public-oriented.

FYI -- PBS doesn't film anything. COMPANY, INTO THE WOODS, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, etc. were all filmed by private investors NOT PBS. PBS only airs them... they don't film them. They don't have the funds to invest in filming shows so others fund them and then negotiate with PBS to air them as part of their Great Performances series.

Also, LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER is privately funded by the the Lincoln Center, which funds all of the filming of their productions, thus they only permit PBS to air them a few times. This is why they are never released on home video -- Lincoln Center own them, not PBS.

You can send you little petition to have GYPSY filmed, but just like the petition generated to film GREY GARDENS before it closed, its pointless. If you're lucky, you'll receive a polite letter from them explaining all of the above.

Sorry to ruin your wishful dream.
