I met her very briefly years ago. I was working on East 59 th street. I came out the front door of my office building. As I came out , she came in . I held the door for her. She looked at me and said "Chivalry isn't dead" and thanked me and continued on.

While I'm not a fan, what little "rationale" was given is damned lame.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
